I have been reading here for a long time and I have to post. This is the greatest build thread of all time. I can't believe you did this without a dedicated garage. I look forward to getting a 40 someday and making it a rolling restoration but you have now set the bar so high I don't think many can recreate the beauty that you have put back together here. My hat is off too you.

I am a tinkerer and one thing that I saw throughout this entire thread is the FJ40 is a simple machine. Every time you worked on a component, took it apart and cleaned it, I thought that is pretty simple you just need to take some time and patience to work on it. My first car was a 1979 Toyota Corolla Liftback. Loved the car, simple to work on. I really can't wait until I can work on my own 40.

Thank you for the kind words.

Roof is on.

Boom.

Turn the door pulls around.

Here is the window crank clocking on our untouched 4,400 mile 1980 FJ40.

Window fully closed. Both handles clocked slightly to the rear of the vehicle.

The disc behind the crank? If so, they are present on both doors and they are black. It appears in the photo as a greyish-white ring.

Backstory:

This truck plowed snow on a Toyota Dealer lot for decades. I dont think it ever left the lot. The driver's footwell is Fred Flintstone but the rest of the tub is very good. It has had 4 clutches however. :)

I think clocking the window crank at that angle when closed would hit my knees... (even though I'm sure its correct)

I always have the handle facing up and out of knee range. :)

Oh, and your center console should be straight... But No big deal.. almost all of them are bent like that due to people stepping on them trying to get to the rear seats.

Silly me. Your originally referred to it as a "door regulator bezel" and I got confused.:)

It's a 4,400 mile truck but the driver's door has been opened about as many times as a 200,000 mile truck.:hillbilly: Since it was only driven in the dead of winter, usually during snow storms, the window did not get opened too often.

@cruiserdan , is that little ring still available? I seem to only have 1.
