that guy shouldn't be bent like that.
some kiddo stepped on it.

Yup. Someone already notified me yesterday. I’ll straighten it out this morning. Honestly, every one of them I have seen was bent like that, and I assumed they were made like that. Ha ha.

Wow !!! Hi Andrew.. your FJ40 is sooo very nice.... really excellent work ... I am Jose Joaquin Jimenez... just bought your LC200 here at California.... congratulations !!!

Thanks man. Be sure to post pics of Fat Amy hitting the dunes.

We had a baby, and i took a hiatus.

It’s currently at the shop getting a final tune up, then it’ll go to the body shop to have the clear coat cut and buffed. After that, it’ll be time to sell it.

Sent the truck to 49 Tire to have @offr0adlim0 to work his magic — fine tuning the engine, making sure everything was mechanically sound, etc.

He found a few valves out of adjustment, fixed a vacuum leak around the exhaust manifold, and adjusted the timing and carb. It’s good to go now.

Now, I wait to get the truck cut/buffed at the bodyshop. Could be a few months out before it’s ready and start thinking about selling.

Not really sure. Market is really all over the place on these. Once I see what the final product looks like from the painters, I’ll have a better guess.

Not cheap though, I know that.

Hi Andrew-

I just finished up reading your post. First thanks for taking the time and effort to take pics and describe how you restored everything. You should be able to get top dollar for your truck. Talk with the folks over at Mechem and Barrett Jackson to name a few of the high dollar auctions. I would put a reserve on it NLT $100K or higher. It may not take first go at it, but most often buyer and seller get together afterwards. Do not let her go cheap. Did you by chance happen to have taken more pics of you head liner install? I am getting ready to tackle it and could need the reference material. Your whole thread is reference material, I stumbled across it while reading another build thread. The gentleman was receiving complements on his build and he stated to go look at your thread. I've been reading it for the last three nights all I can say is, WOW, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Thank you, @Cbled56 .

Sorry, no extra pics of the headliner install. Just go slow, and make sure it’s located properly before spraying adhesive. I did mine in the sun, and allowed the heat to help stretch the liner and get all the wrinkles out of it.

Honestly don’t have a price figured out yet. Kinda hoping someone will reach out to me with an offer so I don’t have to deal with taking it to auction. :)

MScruiser

First, great thread and a fine-looking cruiser.

Reference the photos you posted on March 29, 2018 & April 2, 2018

I’m getting ready to reinstall the hard sides on my 79 FJ40 and have been revisiting the photos I took when I removed it and other related photos that I have been able to find online.

Am I correct in recalling that the 2-piece header assembly that is installed over the driver and passenger doors must be attached to the underside of the fiberglass top rain gutter BEFORE the top is set on the hard sides?

No, one piece bolts to the hardtop side and the windshield frame.

After the fiberglass hardtop is bolted in place the other piece bolts on to cover the first piece

@oldschool4wheeling has some good info near the end of his build thread, I highly encourage reading it before you proceed.
