Your call. The four speed is a nice transmission with better ratios and a synchronized first gear. You have to come to a complete stop to shift into first with the three speed. Otherwise, it's a fine transmission.

Do the 4 speed if you have access to one. Just didn't want you to think you were going to get more highway speed out of that mod.

Just got under it yesterday to asses the rust. Taking the transmission hump off and folding the grille down to prepare to remove the engine and trans

loved my 34x9.50 I ran on my samurai. they pull hard and clean out fast. if they had made a 34x 10.50 i probably never would have changed out my axles to run 36x12.50s.. well that's a lie i caught the bug..bad

i believe the super swamper LTB come in a 34x 10.50
 
FINALLY got the transmission tunnel off! Now it's time to pressure wash the transmission and transfer case

So I have laid down the grille, gotten the fan, fan shroud, radiator, radiator shroud, and intake/exhaust manifolds off. Ready to pull the motor.

Well I have a 1978 2F on an engine stand that I'm cleaning up to repaint. I'm having the head ported and polished and a Holley Truck Avenger 600cfm or 470 cfm carb will be on it. As with anything major besides sanding and priming the body and getting a few rust spots welded up... I work on a drilling rig in the gulf of Mexico and our company is doing a lot of laying off so the project will be on hold until I find a better job.
 
Yeah it'll be fine. There is plenty I can do without spending much money or any at all. I need a lot of sand paper and cutting wheels
