Did get out of town today like I wanted :frown:

Plan B.....

Anyone interested in scouting, pre run, and possible trail maintenance at the back way up to Mount Ord (only 38miles from BAJA)?

Weather should be pleasant at the start 85° (3300')
Goal is to reach the top by 1pm (either by back road or up main forest road)
Top is 7200' elevation expect 75° with the possibility of rain:cool:

Trail was overgrown on my last trip 3 months ago. Not sure what to expect but good possibility of trail maintenance.

No matter what the condition we will be at 7200' by the afternoon for some very cool weather.

Leaving from BAJA 8am

No interest....went with plan c

What was plan C? Did you get up on the trails and if so what condition were the trails in?

I dont think the trail has changed much from 3 months ago. Moto access only

Plan C was plan as you go...

16 hours
~340 miles
100 miles of dirt

Trail maintenance, you say? I know a guy with a nice chainsaw.............

:clap:Nice day it looks like Phil. I gotta get out with you one of these weekends.....

Rare remote access to the Salt River

Camp area to access a remote trail suggested by a local ranchet..... if you are looking for something exciting try this:cool: Scheduled at a later date

Saw 5 of these guys crossing the road on the way home. Almost like a trip to the zoo saw lots of wildlife. Felt bad I double thumped a large frog/toad jumping across the road.:frown:

Dude, I would have gone with you. Didn't check the posts until today :frown:

Your lunch spot looks like the cliff on the north side of Lake Roosevelt.

It happens almost every weekend this time of year for me...I have little interest in 100°+. Combined with sunset and late afternoon showers it was down to 70° with fog on the road way. Almost used the heater:flipoff2:

Nice pictures...That rusted out car doesn't have a Dorkel?

I really do miss the impromptu runs like this, great pictures. Looking forward to a few Holiday season runs when I am home.

Hey Phil,

Any plans for this Sat? My fam is out of town and I have the day off.

Forgive my AZ geography ignorance but where is this trail thats 38 miles from BAJA? I thought mt Ord was NE of PHX.

yup, Mt. Ord is NE of PHX

Ba'ja is the former name of a gas station on Rt. 87 just outside of Fountain Hills, opposite the Ft. McDowell casino turn-off - the gas station these days is a Chevron

we all still call it Baja

I'm new to the area so I don't know whats out there. Is there anything between tucson and phx? Just none of those hard core trails that require a snorkel since I don't have one ;)

Yep, just that most of that area is a bit miserable this time of the year. :princess:
