This is the best build in the 100 section PERIOD. I liked it mo' betta' when it was at $900 ;)

Do you have the old spindle nuts or did you leave them here. We should of got pictures, it was so bad the spindle lock nut star was melted and un recognizable.

The saga continues.

You replace something and something else breaks.

My radiator is leaking ATF out of the bottom fins. I ordered a Denso replacement.

I dropped the diff with Slee's kit (looks super high quality). Just a warning to anybody else about to take on the same job, the two bolts with rubber bushings holding up the front diff (one has a nut, the other is a captive nut) ARE TIGHT. Like a financial criminal in the jail-room communal shower for the first time. Both my air & electric impact couldn't make them budge, even after letting them soak in PB Blaster. I had a friend come over with a 5ft exhaust pipe, which we slid onto the breaker bar, and eventually got them loosened enough to hit it with the impact. Plan ahead for this, nobody warned me.

Up next: rotors, an entire driver's knuckle assembly, CV reboot, bearings and more!

And one last flex for fun!

Had an appointment with a local upholstery business who quoted me $350 to reupholster both my front seat bottom cushions, which in their current state, are totally cooked. They will be using a matching vinyl. I really don't care too much, as long as I don't have to walk through the office and hear someone say, "Alec, why do you have nasty foam chunks stuck to your butt?". Vinyl will do.

Great pics. What's your path out there? I'll be driving out to the Boulder Mountain area of Utah in August, and my wife and I are looking for good a good spot to camp in Eastern NV on the way there. Open to any other suggestions as well!

Take my word for it –

Camp in Utah, it's only a few hour longer drive. Very much worth it.

Go to the outskirts of La Verkin. Cheap gas, nice people, sweet Cruisers in that area.

Go up the canyon and set up camp approximately at 37.1988856,-113.2382494. It's about a 20-30min drive from a paved road. Minor rock crawling.

Prepare to have a whole beautiful Zion back country canyon to yourself, with stunning views and extreme discreet factor... you know... for that perfect "romantic getaway". ;) I think the name Virgin River is meant to be ironic.

good stuff. I like your E bike as well...

nice project bringing it back from the dead and enjoying the truck

Nice work!

Hey everybody. So a few things I neglected to post, small but notable.

First is a tablet/Scanguage install. I mounted the Samsung Galaxy Tab A by installing a single DIN shelf into the head unit hole, and then drilling holes in it to mount the "wall-mount tablet holder". It's very stable in bumpy conditions and does a great job providing GPS via Avenza Maps!

Also, I spotted a coolant leak yesterday! If you know me, you know that I CAN NOT have my vehicles leaking. I'm OCD to the max when to comes to this sort of thing. I cannot sleep if I know my vehicles are not bone dry.

It appears to be some of the rear heater lines are seeping a good amount of coolant. It's a shame. I wanted to trust them, but now they most go. Forever. I cannot have a Land Cruiser gimmick (rear climate control) risk me being stranded without coolant somewhere. Time to bypass the rear heater.

So, engage Dr. Plow mode.

Nurse, pass me my scalpel (erhm, hose pick).

Totally removed the heater T's and used single joiners instead. I am planning to bypass all plastic in this area soon by fabricating custom brass tubes that go from the engine to the firewall. Let me know if you all have any interest in buying a product like that...

Original heater T's lower lines are tucked away and plugged in case I want to reuse them some day. It'll be as simple as hooking them back up and pouring some extra coolant in!

Mmm... back to having a bone dry Cruiser. Just how I like it.

Nice work on your truck! Did you ever tear into the original motor to see what exactly the "gnarly things" that happened inside?

Sweet deal!!
I got our '98 for $2k about 4 years ago now. Same story- heater T's blew while they were on the highway and they drove it until it wouldn't go.....
Truck had 180k when we got it, I dropped in a junkyard motor with 135k on it, we've been rolling strong 60k+!!!

Keep up the good work!

I still haven't ripped into the original motor. Some day once I have the free time, I'll do a dissection and see why it can't hold air!

Nice! Possibly our Cruisers came from the same family? Hah!
