I think if you add cross bars made out of extruded aluminum like some people have done, you can make a lot of brackets work

Hi Lift makes a mount bracket that fits on the roof rails. That mounts the jack parallel to the vehicle. See their accessories web site.

Thanks. I saw these but didn’t think about using them on the rails. Found this video.

Yakima makes a clamp that fits around the stock rails and can be adapted to almost anything. I have a couple for my shovel mount. Will try to get the part number when I get home.

Whatever you do, consider a hi-lift’s tendency to act like a missile if you get into a collision. I never got around to it but had plans for a Kevlar rope anchor to a different part of the rack, when I was going to put one on the roof of my 80. Point being to dissipate some more energy if it breaks free of the mounts. Many of the better mounting systems you’ll see to attach them to a roll cage are a lot more robust than even our stock load bars.

Yes I have thought about “missile launch” potential so the mounting does need to be robust. I have the Yakima mounts that I intend to modify for my recovery boards. I thought about using them for the jack but they don’t seem stout enough.

These though look stout enough (expensive too) but you'd have to come up with some way to mount to the OEM roof rack.

I just bought a set of these for my Yakima bars. They are quite beefy.
