Mounting a Jerry can

I would like to mount a 5 gallon standard size fuel can holder on the rear of the cruiser, any suggestions on the best way to do it

Hiya, I think the tire carrier gas can holder is the simplest solution for a stock rig like yours. It puts stress on the door hinges, which is not good. For a really beefy gas can holder, you will probably need a modified bumper.

Also, Welcome , I'm not always a Smart***. This is what I have , but not ready to mount. Dave Gore, lcwizard on this forum, Make any configuration of this. The weight is not on the body, it's carried by the rear cross member. Not my truck, not my picture.

Con-ferr attaches to your spare very easily and the Jerry can be locked on.

I have an OEM spare tire carrier for the driver's side of a 40 that was stock in part of '75 and all of '76. It should look just like the tire carrier you have on the passenger's side. Mounting it will take some fab skills and it will need to be stripped and painted. Shoot me a PM if interested. There are pics in one of my for-sale threads.

My cruiser has a con-ferr mount attached to an older spare tire mount without a tire. Works out quite nicely.

I used a tube style tire carrier, and made a rack for 3 cans...I also found a cooler that will fit in to the same space when extra gas isn't taken along.

I like this idea, its stock, yes it adds stress to the body panels because that is how the stock tire carrier is attached ( not the door hinges as someone said earlier) but other than the jerry can its all Toyota!
