Anyone fab up thier own gas can mounts/carriers? If so, I'd like to see pics of various designs. Even some nice aftermarket types.

I'm Looking for ideas to make a removeable gas can mounting system that would hold four 5 gallon jerry cans and fit into my rear ice cooler/spare tire rack.

I had a couple of the old con-ferr can holders. I really liked the simplicity of them, but I got rid of most of my US style cans in favor of the Nato style cans and the con-ferr holder will not work with them. So I cut them down and mated them with the old school can holders. Now I can carry both style cans. It's not pretty but it works. It's attached to the spare tire mount.

I had this rear swing-out custom made. If I had to do it again (and I may eventually "fix" this) I would have made the jerry can holder removable and had a cooler basket made that could fit in it's place. All I can say for you is that a 35" tire and 2 cans full with fuel is a lot of weight on my swing-out and he used a BEEFY spindle. It is very sturdy and only drops down maybe 1/8" when I swing it open if the cans are full. If you are looking to put 4 cans on there, you better have them on their own spindle. Be sure to post up what you ultimately decide on.

Here is what I built for my 40. It holds 4 gerry cans, and a 36" spare. I used 4x4Labs pivots and I will use a destaco clamp to hold everything closed. . You will also notice that I have another tail light mounted to it, so by brake light is visible. Its not the prettiest piece of fab I have done, but it gets the job done.

Here are some pic of a modified heep tire/gas can/hi-lift carrier I had Dirtworx fab up. It's basicly a shorter version of their standard product.

Do a search for more ideas ;)

Here's the rear bumper and fuel carrier that I built. Something about having the fuel cans mounted low didn't agree with me... There's still room to pull an adult beverage out of the cooler!
I could have made it...webp
