Introducing the Mountain Passes Off-road "Mini-Max" bumper. This bolt on bumper is lightweight and very unobtrusive while providing the things most important for those that off-road. First, it has an amazing departure angle. The tubes are actually set slightly above the frame of the GX. Second, it provides solid protection and something to slide on while going through rough areas. No worrying about catching the bumper cover on a rock anymore. The side skirt is attached towards the front as well as the middle and of course the rear. Third, it provides two additional recovery points directly anchored to the frame with an additional four 1/2" bolts on top of those provided by Lexus. License Plate Bracket included. Hi-Lift carrier available. Sold unpainted. I recommend Herculiner as it's textured and easy to repair from scratches.

Basic Mini-Max bumper is $850
Basic Mini-Max with swing out carrier is $1600.

Instructions for trimming and cutting bumper are provided.

Mountain Passes Off-road.

Nice work.

If you bought the basic now, would you be able to add the swing out carrier at a later date?

Any info about the hitch? Does that come with the Bumper or is that separate?

Really nice Steve

I really like the bumper. I need tire carrier but not ready to have to open it separately from the rear door every time I need access.

Would a spare still be able to fit under if one didn't get it with the swing-out (say a 255/75 spare)?

255/75R17 will fit. 285/70R17 fit if you don't have KDSS and lifted 3". The taller the lift the more rear axle move forward. Would still hit the tire during normal suspension cycle.

Hitch is included as part of the design. I could add a swing out later. It's welded on. So it would need to come back to me.

Please post a different profile/side shot for the rear. The one above is looking down, I'd like to check out what it looks like directly from the side.

Have you considered a similar idea for the front?

This idea reminds me of the rock rails I bought years ago from @LCphil for my FJ80 (which I really liked). Very unique, got me thinking....

Does the trimming done to the rear (for the "bumper") entirely negate mud flaps?

You probably could still mount the OEM mudflap but it would look funny.

I build my own using mount from 1.25" wide 1/16" thick aluminum strip. One piece 36x30 truck mudflap is enough material for 4 mudflaps. Got mine from Pilot truck stop for $20.

I use wing nuts to be able to remove it quickly for off road without tools. Living in Midwest without mudflap make the salt and dirt collect too much under door and rear bumper.

This is awesome... Thanks for developing/sharing this. If not splurging on the tire carrier, does this bumper allow for a larger spare to be mounted underneath?

The size limitation of the spare underneath the GX is really dictated by the space between the track bar and the rear cross-member (as well as the larger tow hitch bumpers of course). It is not based on the rear bumper. Unless you cut out the rear cross-member (or perhaps notch it), then you are not fitting a larger spare with this (or any replacement) rear bumper.

To my knowledge, the only bumper that was cutting out the rear cross-member on the GX is the 4x4labs rear bumper.

Any discount for local pickup? And would you install it? I’m up north by Fort Collins.......

I doubt I will ever discount this item. I can help install it of course. Just need to arrange that with me in advance. I really don't check this forum much so sorry for the delay. I can share me phone number with you if you need to discuss things. I typically use my FaceBook Mountain Passes Off-road page but if your not a FB person I understand.

Sounds fair, I re-read the original—I thought it had mentioned shipping included in the price but it doesn’t. I would like to get one I think. Would a PM be the best bet here since I’m not on FB?
Also a “stupid” question: this will allow two spares to be carried? One stock and one on the mini max?
And a final question: weight rating of the hitch since it seems the stock one needs to be removed?

I'm messaging you my number

I’m about ready to pull the trigger but I have some questions. How much does it weigh without tire carrier, what is the tow rating for the hitch, can it be used for hi lift jacking from the rear, and can we get some more pics of it from the bottom? Specifically how it’s mounted to the frame? This product is just about exactly what I’m looking for as long as it’s strong enough and can take a beating. Also how can I purchase if I don’t have Facebook?
