Does the KDSS have a "rebound" that is different than a solid swaybar on the road? Has anyone noticed a higher likelihood of getting car sick in the 200?

I am shopping for a 200 and have test drove a couple of 2009s. While taking them on short drives on mountain roads, my family complained about getting car sick. Even as the driver, I felt a little of it myself. Neither 200 had excessive sway and handled very well, but there was something unsettling about the motion in and out of curves. I did not know if it was the KDSS or if it was simply soft OEM springs and shocks? (Or maybe it was simply overzealous application of, ahem, "new car smell" by the dealers?)

My baseline is a 97 FZJ80 that we have had for the last 15 years, the last 8 of it with an OME medium kit. We have also had 100 series. It is extremely rare for my family to get car sick in either of those. At the time we put the OME medium kit on the 80, we had a very winding commute and I do remember it dramatically cut down on body roll.

I assume that OME springs and quality shocks (BP-51s or Icons) would dramatically reduce the likeliness of getting motion sick in the 200?

I have been eager to try the KDSS system since I learned about back in 1995. Does it really improve articulation much? How well does a 200 with a 2-3" lift and a high travel UCA flex compared to a similarly lifted 80 and 100? In theory, shouldn't the KDSS put the flex of the 200 with IFS on par with 80 (especially if the 80's sway bar was connected and was using caster bushings in the radius arms)?

Haven't noticed any increase in people getting car sick, in fact I've never gotten car sick in the 200 driving or rolling shotgun, but in my wife's Honda I do get a bit woozy at time... I can tell you the ride is way better once you throw on some better suspension! -Kreiten

So far as increased flex due to the KDSS system, well, I can give you my gut feeling, but it's based on nothing scientific:) I would say the ass end of the 200 will flex right there with an 80 series, maybe a bit more:) The front end will flex more than a 100, and proly just a bit less than an 80 series... Let me put it this way, I'm having to add spacers this week before I can go out wheelin cause this thing is out flexin my new tires:))) I'll get some updated snap shots after next weekend!

@HDJdreams, this is an old thread, but to answer your question, yes, I have a 2011 LX570 and for the last 3 years, my daughter has been getting carsick in it even it's just a short 10 minute drive. She gets all pale and on the verge of puking. This doesn't happen in my wife's Rav4 or my 1997 LX450 (with OME suspension).

It happens to me sometimes, too. Today, I got a bit car sick and it reminded me to search this topic.

The LX570 has AHV as opposed to KDSS.

Did you come across any solutions?
