Up for sale is my 1976 FJ40. Purchased out of San Diego area a few years ago from the daughter of I think the second owner with the hope of making it my patina build project but between a toddler with another one on the way and no good dedicated garage space I’ve decided its time for it to move on hopefully to someone who will enjoy and use it.

This 40 is mostly original and in good solid nearly rust free condition (exception of the rear tub on either above the tail lights as is typical). Paint is all original and would make a great patina build. Hardtop looks like it was modified some by the previous owner but does keep the interior dry. Has all original glass, gauges, jump seats. Includes skid plate, towbar, and an extra set of aftermarket wheels. Also includes the classic Warn M8724 and controller.

Work that has occurred under my ownership:
  • Recovered original seat frames with new seat foams and covers from CCOT in black
  • Driver side seat bracket extension
  • Toyota Steel Wheels & 5 MTs- rattle-canned gray with Toyota hub caps
  • Toyota Windshield mounted side mirrors
  • Converted back to Toyota mechanical fuel pump (previous owner put in a cheap in-line electric) - Work performed by Land Cruiser Specialist
  • Full fluid flush, carb repair/rebuild, radiator replacement by Land Cruiser Specialist

She definitely isn’t perfect and still has some things to fix and repair but if you are looking for a clean, unmolested North American FJ40 then this one is worth taking a look at. I am sure I’ll regret getting rid of such a clean FJ40 in a few years when I have the space for a vehicle like this but right now just isn’t the right time for me.

I’m asking $28,500 for it but open to discussing serious/reasonable offers. Located in Austin TX.

I’ll be working on getting some better pictures this weekend but below are some that I already have. A link to my not very detailed build thread can be found in my signature.

I remember when this one came up for sale, I was in Seattle finalizing the purchase of my '75. Definitely remember thinking if I would've seen yours a few days earlier, I would've been heading to CA to look at it.

Good luck with the sale. The interior looks incredible compared to how you found it.

PM sent.
