Let’s try this again, prior thread deleted, I assume they want to keep it clean, there was no explation given.

If you have sold a 100 series recently and want to share what you paid with details on truck this will be helpful for potential buyers currently looking.

This thread can be helpful for buyers looking to understand the market and different factors that come into play on pricing.

Please stay on topic!

I recently sold 2004 LX with 176k for 12,500. Truck was 9/10 on condition with full service records. Southern Vehicle no rust.

Not refuting that demand is still high and potentially growing, in the near term... However, I think it is going to be interesting what happens in the next 1-2years if oil prices keep climbing and all the people that bought LC/LXs (in the last 1 year) with plans to “explore” end up just driving the vehicle back and forth to work at 12-16mpg and get tired of filling the tank. If people stop buying gas guzzlers in response to rising fuel costs I could see the market being saturated with private sellers who didn’t end up exploring plus all the small car dealers and flippers trying move vehicles the general public no longer has the affinity most of us on this site have for the LC/LX... I may be out to pasture here but the meteoric rise in value across 100 and 80 series in just the last year doesn’t seem to mesh with the historic steady state climb in value (due to demand by enthusiasts) they had been experiencing prior to the pandemic...
Very well put. Also I am seeing 100 series prices are getting very close to 200 series prices.

There is no question about it, 100 prices must be at a all time high. Those who are contemplating selling a 100 and sets price at a reasonable level for vehicle conditions will have no problem selling. Now replacing said vehicle, well..... It’s like the housing market where I live. Sell easy- and to Buy..... You gotta make that decision from photos almost, be the first to contact and be ready to spend.

I like the sound of it all, I need to get my 98 prepped for sale soon!

This is perhaps the best example of the only way I can explain what I am seeing in the market.

I am relatively new to the LC/LX scene but I always did know these were fantastic cars. I recently picked up a 2005 with 255K for 9800. Wife absolutely loves it and we are already saving for another one when our Pacifica lease is up this summer. One thing that I am noticing is that in the market right now it seems clean, good examples of 100 series trucks are going for nearly the same price as the early model 200 series. Why is that? Is the collectibility factor that much greater on the 100 series? If I have a budget of 25-30K for our new LX, why would I look for a 100 series and not just jump into a 2008,09 200 series? I realize I am going to be much closer to 30K for a 200 series in comparable condition. I guess I just don't understand the LC/LX market.

Many prefer the simpler 100. After reading what many say that have owned both, the 200 has different build specs, more electric items, plastic parts. I guess it’s view points of the 100 ,that and pull the lever- not push button

Little anecdote here, mechanically I've found that my 200 is easier to wrench on compared to the 100. Parts availability is better too because a lot of tundra stuff bolts right on. Electronically there's not too much more- 03+ all came with navigation and those goodies too. Aftermarket can be hit or miss since the LCs and LXs are more differentiated.
I was in a similar situation last year after selling my 100 and searching for a nicer one. Was easier to find a clean early 200. Still miss that more rugged feel from the 100s though.

I think I’ll be targeting a 08-2011 200 this summer instead of a 100 series at this point.

As for prices, I think the Porsche market is the one to look for guidance. Right now, the prices of 996's have been rising in much the same way 100 series have been. As older models become more scarce and much more pricey! (I remember when air cooled models were CHEAP...), and buyers look for the next opportunity, the 100 series have been the target. Here's a quick article about 996 prices - What's going on with the Porsche 996 market? | Porsche Club of America - https://www.pca.org/news/2020-10-20/whats-going-porsche-996-market

Prices of the 200 series are not much better. I’ve looked in that direction. It’s certainly not any easier to find a good , rust free example in that department. Everyone go just got into the overland lifestyle heard about Land cruisers being the best and of course the Mrs. said, We need something modern and newish, and so did the bank.
What I’m saying is that the 200 series is every bit as Under the microscope in the used market. I think many flock to the 100 in hopes they can find a better deal.
I think I may be glancing over at the Gx 460 in near future. It’s just that damn door swinging open. V8 and comparable to 100 in size.

What do you guys think of this 100 series. I think it's priced accordingly. I know most would steer clear because of it being a rust belt truck. But I like this price. I really like it at 9K.

Seems like a pretty fair price. Hard to see from the one pic, but honestly it doesn't look that bad for being a MI rig. If you don't plan on doing a lot of wrenching on it, I'd say go for it assuming everything else looks good.

Just need to see what it looks like under it.

Hopefully this helps someone here, looks like they have busted their hub flanges. No affiliation

It’s been said in this thread, don’t rule out rust belt rigs. This is my 100 and I’m in the North East rust belt. I treat er rite- oil spray every winter before and after.

She's pretty crusty. I'm sure its structurally okay, but for the money I don't see it. Why not buy one rust free and fly in and drive it home or ship it?

Due to my family situation, it would be really really hard to fly and drive. I have considered shipping. 9K I think is fair on this.

I have a very-clean-underneath rust free ‘98 I’d like to sell for $15k. 245k miles, roof needs repainted as clear has come off, and interior needs some love. FR+RR locked. New oem goodies and working sunroof. Am I a lunatic?

With current market prices and the value seen in rust free (it’s from Georgia) trucks I feel like that’s a premium price, but it has been taken care of and I’ve put a lot of elbow grease getting it up to where it is now.

Just asking here first before I list it to avoid public shame and humiliation as some might see the less-than-perfect roof, front seats, and steering wheel.

Just the $3.50 gas price is killing me.

There's a turn key, immaculate 1999 in River Rock Green Mica that has new seat leather front and rear, excellent paint from the pics, no rust, brand new BFG KO2s, and the seller has a laundry list of OEM parts/work done. It's got similar mileage to your truck (270k on his) but it doesn't have a front locker. His is listed for $16,500 and has been sitting for 3 weeks now. His price is way too high, in my opinion. Nothing personal, but your truck sounds like a lesser version of his truck ("roof needs repainted"/"interior needs some love" specifically) so I think you're also way too high on price. You -might- be able to sell it for $15k, but I think $10-11k is more reasonable. You could always split the difference and list if for around $13k and see what kind of interest you get, but you'll be waiting a long time if you're trying to get $15k out of it.

I'm not going to say you are a lunatic, but a 23-year-old car, with close to 250K that needs interior and exterior cosmetic work is not a 15K truck. I would scroll right past that listing.
At some point logic supersedes
