Let’s try this again, prior thread deleted, I assume they want to keep it clean, there was no explation given.

If you have sold a 100 series recently and want to share what you paid with details on truck this will be helpful for potential buyers currently looking.

This thread can be helpful for buyers looking to understand the market and different factors that come into play on pricing.

Please stay on topic!

I recently sold 2004 LX with 176k for 12,500. Truck was 9/10 on condition with full service records. Southern Vehicle no rust.

Howdy fellas,

I'm in the market for a hundred right now, specifically 98-99 with a locker and tan interior (I'm a little picky). I'm willing to travel anywhere in the western/southern states from the CA Bay Area. I found one in Portland, OR asking $13k, it's got 230k on the clock, OME lift, BFG KO2s, and it's that wild desert bronze metallic color which I love. I think it's a decently fair price but here's the KICKER:
It's an auction car with absolutely no maintenance records or history or even an oil change/ TB/WP sticker in the engine bay. A carfax would be helpful but how willing are they to run that for me?
I offered them $10k knowing they wouldn't agree but also letting them know it would be harder to sell a car with no records.
Let me know what y'all think a fair price would be. It's very clean as well and no rust. I'm hoping somewhere between $11-$12k is fair. Thanks for reading and appreciate your feedback.

It's hard to say man. If you have the VIN, you can run the carfax yourself for $10 here. It seems a little sketch, but I've used it and it works. You can always see if the auction site will do a PPI, and if not, see if they'll do more pictures. You just want as much information as you can get.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it has a rebuilt title. It’s on Craigslist, I reached about that truck a couple weeks ago, dealer said it had a rear end collision but I never bothered with a carfax. I passed on it because of that, without seeing it in person I didn’t want to risk it, as I am in TX. That being said. If you could get it for $10k or less, it might be worth it.

Yes, that's the one I'm talking about and ya I forgot it had a rebuilt title as well. What did you think about it? It looked clean from the pictures but you never know.

I would get the carfax to see what the accident was, and I would want it brought to location of my choice (preferably a cruiser specialist in the area) for a PPI to check for structural damage and examine the work that was done. I bought a pathfinder years ago that had a rebuilt title from a high rear-end collision, it wasn’t until 2 years later that it rusted from the inside out near the hatch because they didn’t properly prep or paint various areas. In many cases, the truck is wrecked and picked up at insurance auctions by low-volume shops that rebuild the car at the lowest possible cost, then apply for the rebuilt title status after it passes an inspection, and those inspections are usually done by high school and college kids making $10/hr... so you never truly know how bad it is unless it goes under a microscope. If you can get it for $10k, it might not be a bad buy. I think what they’re asking is high considering lack of records, and that it was an auction vehicle at one point. Big red flags. If it didn’t have a rebuilt title it would probable sell for $15k+ because it otherwise looks to be in good condition, and possibly loved by an enthusiast at one point seeing as it has a snorkel.

Very true, I'll see if they respond to my offer but you're right, who knows the history of the repair/ inspection. I'd rather not fly in only to find some rusty surprise like you had. But thanks for your opinion.

What are "snow tires"?
I was hoping he just called them that and was going to pull out some all terrains, but,.....no luck. A winter tire designed to be run in cold weather climate, i think 40 to 50 degrees and lower, dont quote me on that. Made differently so they would not last to long in my climate or in warm weather.

Well CarAndBids.com just sold a 2006 LX 470 with 18,000 miles for USD 62,500. A new record I am sure, leaving BaT in the dust. Insanity.

a 2002 with 3x as many miles sold for 61,000 so BAT still more lucrative way to sell a 100.

Yea, I thought that LX was going to go for at least $5-10k more. I guess it's partly the fact it was an LX and not an LC but still that is way lower than what I expected.

If buyers want to pay attention to those two rigs as a harbinger of the future, they should also go to Madagascar and search for The Holy Grail. On a beach. With dynamite in a MFB.

I paid $13,000 for this truck last month. 2002, 1 owner, 230k, excellent maintenance records, CA car, super clean exterior and undercarriage, interior is in good shape as well. I contacted the individual within 30 minutes of his ad going live and was first in line for purchase.

Very similar case here. 2002 with 235k miles but an LX 470, one owner with full history at the Lexus dealer as it was meticulously maintained there for its whole life. WA car. Paid $9500.

Just bought an un-modded 2000 LC 100 with 120k miles, a clean PPI and good service history for $28k from a dealer in Oregon (it's also an Oregon car, never lived near salt). It's certainly a little above what I wanted to pay, but it's the lowest miles I've seen on a car without NAV (I want to put a proper stereo in)

I paid $12,500 a year ago. Completely stock 2000 LX with 77k original miles original owner. All maintenance records from Lexus. Called within 15 min. of them posting it on CL. I told them I’d give them their full price! It was a Wednesday and I could be there till Friday morning. “I’m stuck as a chaperon, at my sons 5th grade camp out”! I went to pick it up 2 days later. They said they had over 30 calls! Lol! People offered them up to $18k. One guy wanted to fly in from Colorado to California. But they were true to their word and sold it to me for the $12,500 asking price! Now has 85k miles. Been enjoying every mile I put on this LX.
