Let’s try this again, prior thread deleted, I assume they want to keep it clean, there was no explation given.

If you have sold a 100 series recently and want to share what you paid with details on truck this will be helpful for potential buyers currently looking.

This thread can be helpful for buyers looking to understand the market and different factors that come into play on pricing.

Please stay on topic!

I recently sold 2004 LX with 176k for 12,500. Truck was 9/10 on condition with full service records. Southern Vehicle no rust.

Here's an honest question. How are y'all negotiating prices? I am seeing lots of LX470 with 200K+ miles...some with 250k+ and people are asking 15-20K for them. Just saw one listed in Charlotte 285k and dude is asking 12,500 for it.

Either I am cheap or do lots of people have high expectations. What are the negotiating points I need to be leaning on? Would love to find a cleanish LX with 180k miles for 8k......am I dreaming???

that would be a dream. I haven’t seen any LX or LCs go for under 10k In a long time :(

good luck on your hunt

I've been doing lots of searching and found LOTs of LX and LC under 10k......but they all have their fair share of miles/rust or whatever issues right. Hoping to get a gauge of what's acceptable to buy vs sellers taking advantage of the market. I agree with you, but also I don't think its a dream. Holding out for the right seller and waiting? But also how does one negotiate terms for a 20 year old car. I am more familiar with the 80 series and what to ask.

I recently passed on a "mechanically" perfect 1999 LX470 with some cosmetic issues (minor) good underneath BUT with 270k miles for probably 7k.......was that smart or dumb? Obviously thinking too much here, but curious what other mudders are thinking. Thanks y'all!

I don't think you are dreaming. There are deals out there, but you better be first in line and have cash already in hand. I've missed out on two recently where I called within 6 hours of the listing going up. In both instances, the truck was already sold.

You are definitely dreaming right now. That's a $17k truck in the current market. The biggest things to negotiate on are deferred maintenance. TB/WP/Axles/Steer racks/etc often need to be done on trucks at that age.

I guess I am or everyone is just accepting the prices? Regardless, thank you for the negotiating tips.

So if I find a cleanish 2002 LX, 190k miles for 10k I shouldn't feel bad? Would love to not go through a dealer, but have found decent deals there.

Yeah, you find that truck keep it under your hat. That's a great price.

Yea.... 8k is a tough one.... I think if you up your budget to 10-12k your options will increase to more trucks.... not that you can’t find one for 8k in solid condition but just depends on how long your willing to wait for that perfect opportunity when time, distance, money, motivated seller, and lucks comes around..

I’m sure you will find your perfect one. Keep hunting! I spent over a year finding one of mine...

I don't disagree with that! True my budget is small, yet growing, but have been in disbelief about some of these prices. 250k+ miles with 15k firm price. Ouch.

Working on the budget and will pull the trigger. I appreciate all the feedback. Helps me not feel too crazy here!

Yep, unless it has a lot of rust and a bad title, you're not gonna see something like that from now on, prices are only going up.

I am sure its dependent on area, but I would disagree. Seen lots with minimal/no rust and good titles, but then just super high miles...like 300k or more. Do agree that prices will go up.

Certainly more affordable, but not always cheap. Especially with all the maintenance done. Here's a rust free one with 328k miles for $14k

Don't get too caught up on mileage. Rust and maintenance are number 1 and 2 considerations with mileage being a distant 3rd. I bought my 06 with 250k+ miles on it and the PO had spent ~$10k on maintenance and wearables (tires and brakes) over the previous year. I rather pay a small premium for the well maintained car than buying the money pit for <$10k.

Thank you sir, this is what I need to hear. Just felt funny thinking of spending that much on a rig with 300k miles, hoping to drive it for 200k more haha. Thanks man.

All I can say is be patient, I got my LX last April (before Covid prices) for 5k with 245xxx miles no rust. I have done heater ts, radiator and that’s it besides new tires. They’re out there

This looks like a really nice LC. Any smart buyer would jump on it especially if there's some haggle room. You can't replicate the condition and maintenance for that without spending a lot more money on top of the car.

I thought this was a really nice example.

I've been seeing 98-02s in the 10-14k range in Denver. 03-05 in the 13-18k range and 20k +for 06/07s.

Oh man, this seller didn't know what they had. I would have been there with pocket full of cash to close that deal.
