Accelerating and cruising at around 55-70 MPH. I was up at 6:00 and went out early to avoid any traffic.

Too much wind noise, I had the camera mounted on the hatch aside the license plate. When I went out again to get more videos, I put the camera right on the bumper right above the tow hitch, but the sound from the exhaust was too distorted.

For some reason, in this one, full throttle sounds like I have a hole in the muffler, but I think it's mainly because the camera was in an awkward position. This is the second video I shot, after I drove up the road a bit, the first one is pretty much useless so I'm not gonna post it.

Headphones or good speakers are a must for the rest of these! I'm watching this on my TV and playing through surround sound. Try to watch these in at least 720p as the sound quality degrades below that.

Here's the exhaust at a steady 30-40 MPH, drove to work to check in on things in my department. And to do some adjustments to the camera.

As you can hear, there is a minor drone, nothing too annoying though.

Parking lot speed.

Various speeds on different roads; went and got a quick breakfast (I was up and out at 6:00) then went back to my work to give the Land Beast a bath.

I will go out tonight an in the morning and do some. Tomorrow I can go for a longer drive and somewhere I can get up over 50....
Is youtube the easiest way to load them ? I have never loaded up videos to the site...

Sounds good.

It usually is, just takes awhile for it to upload and process if it's a large file. I think this site has a file size limit or something, not too sure as I haven't uploaded a video directly to here.

Sometimes filesharing sites work well, but I'm not a fan of them because of legitimacy and viruses and s*** - just me being paranoid! :-P

Ok I'm going to try and set up the GoPro on the outside and then the iPhone on the inside... I'm going to set up then be gone most of the day,
Two soccer games to coach for my kids today.. But the drive should get me some good video...

Something stuck out to me in this thread: if you're doing exhaust for performance (minimal, but still) then definitely don't just keep stock pipes and add a Flowmaster. The stock pipes are actually going to be pretty restrictive to airflow in the first place.

In terms of sound, I've got DT and love the sound. Not obnoxious but I've gotten many compliments from my buddies running F150s with obnoxious exhaust. They said they "like the note" of the exhaust and that it has just the right amount of growl. You wouldn't be displeased with a DT setup I'm sure.

Having come from an Excursion with a 7.3L Powerstroke, I really appreciate the quiet stock Toyota exhaust. Just sayin ...

Fishie, that's what I've heard from a lot of 100 Series owners who have the Doug Thorley system. Unfortunately, because there doesn't seem to be any 100 Series owner on this board near me, let alone one with a DT system that I could drive and compare, it's not possible to do a test-drive and see if it's something I'd want to live with :(.

How's the drone around town and highway? I realize it can be quite subjective as to the amount of drone because a kid in a riced out Civic will say there's no drone with his exhaust however someone who is used to a cushy Lexus with a silent exhaust system will say holy crap!

The Borla catback that I have has minimal drone, more so than stock but nothing like it could be. Throttle inputs, downshifts, pretty much anything to do with changes in RPM can be heard while cruising. I'm not necessarily saying that's a bad thing (to some people) but I still wanna keep the cabin a civilized place and I don't really want to go any louder than I already am with the Borla (in terms of interior noise/drone). Exterior-wise, I'd want a more aggressive sound, with a deeper, more burbly exhaust note at idle, that comes to a great crescendo as the engine reaches redline.

I'm not saying I drive aggressively all the time, on the contrary actually (my friends make fun of how slow I drive)... But it would be nice to have that sick, primal growl when you're moving about parking lots, and then a nice roar when you get on the skinny pedal!

I'll admit, some of these Range Rover Sports that I'm used to dealing with at work (only the supercharged V8s) have a sweet exhaust note... that's the only redeeming quality I find in them :p.

Pics of my DT setup - very happy but it for sure is sporty..... but it works for me.

Construction is great and the fit was dead on - install took less then 30 min !

not sure there is any HP gain but expect that from the headers sitting in the garage...

I love the way it's built for clearance...a nice surprise was that it negated the need for replacing the y pipe.... it does that.

Any chance of a sound clip?

So i ran the Gopro but apparently using the waterproof housing doesn't do anything for the sound errr... I just grabbed it with the housing I use on the boat and then afterwards could not figure out while the sound was so muffled. I'm headed out of town tonight and taking the LC. I set my tablet up so I can access the camera from the gopro app and turn on the recording function remotely.. I was going to mount it inside on the back window vs outside. I dont think you will hear much with the wind noise but inside should let you hear it especially if I open the side back windows.. Let me know how you want it and I will grab the clips tonight on the drive up to Raleigh...

Ok I uploaded what clips I thought sounded ok to YouTube here are some links

60 Mph with driver window up

60 Mph with rear side windows open

Startup and Idle

Let me know if you want more with the GoPro these were my iphone

Costalcat,

Sounds good! I hear a little drone from what I can tell while you're at cruising speed, but it seems to be something I could handle. I just want it to be civilized but have that nice growl when I want it to.

Does your GoPro seem to drain the battery fairly quickly with the WiFi enabled? I took mine out when I first got it (full charge), turned on the WiFi and GoPro app, and it died on me about an hour later. I tried it again and it seemed to last longer; I just gotta tinker around with it. I have the Hero3 White.

For my clips I used the skeleton case, and when the videos were more wind noise than anything (in various positions), I tried it with the normal case back and I too had muffled sounds. Maybe I should invest in a separate microphone.

Yes I do get crummy battery with the WiFi on but I do get better results if I kill the app when I dont need it. So I get the camera mounted then I check the view through the app then I hit record then kill the app. That is typical with most wifi devices the more data moving the more the battery consumption. Try doing that and see if you battery life is better..

DO you want any other sound clips or did those work for you?

Thanks for the info. If possible, maybe a clip or two with the skeleton case or whatever it's called in the front and second row seats at various speeds, maybe we can get a more accurate volume level there. As of right now I'm 60% yes, and 40% no with going with the DT system.

Right on I will get that this weekend for you... Soccer tournament for the girls = drive time

Thanks a lot! I'm going up to my mom's this weekend, unfortunately, not taking the Beast so I won't be able to get any more sound clips.

Cheers,

Rich
