This is a good read:
Finding the best hydraulic oil or hydraulic fliud for your machine is key to extending the life of your machine's hydraulic components like hoses, pumps, and even the hydraulic fluid itself. Understanding the oil viscosity, anti-wear (AW) properties, and hydraulic fluid grade will help you make...

....and a bunch of other cool TOTALLY UNNECESSARY FOR US stuff on this site like a discussion of Viscosity Index:
Too often the viscosity index (VI) is disregarded as a lubricant selection parameter. One reason is simply because it is poorly understood. Some people think the viscosity index is incorporated in...

ISO 32 ends up with a really high viscosity at lower temperatures, like 2-5x+ Dexron III depending upon the Viscosity Index of the specific hydraulic fluid used....could be problematic on pump/box components over decades if you live in cold climates. Let's compare:
Toyota = Dexron III specs:
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 40°C 37
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 100°C 7.3
VISCOSITY INDEX (D2270) 173
FLASH POINT (D92), °C 177
POUR POINT (D97), °C -48
......calculated viscosity at -20C=-4F: 1255
Mobile LTE 24 (ISO 32) spec:
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 40°C 31.5
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 100°C 5.3
VISCOSITY INDEX (D2270) 98
FLASH POINT (D92), °C 220
POUR POINT (D97), °C -27
(NOT a good pour point for cold climates!!!)
......calculated viscosity at -20C=-4F: 2316.....so twice Dexron III at cold temps
Triax makes a half-priced ISO 32 (Triax Premium HLP Hydraulic Oil 32) with specs better than Mobile LTE:
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 40°C 32.9
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 100°C 5.5
VISCOSITY INDEX (D2270) >165
FLASH POINT (D92), °C 225
POUR POINT (D97), °C -45
......calculated viscosity at -20C=-4F: 2407.....so twice Dexron III at cold temps
But Triax also makes an actual PS fluid ("OEM Synthetic") at a similar price:
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 40°C 32.6
KINEMATIC VISCOSITY CST @ 100°C 6.98
VISCOSITY INDEX (D2270) 180
FLASH POINT (D92), °C UNKNOWN
(Pentosin 7.1 standard states 130C which is NOT a good flash point for big 4x4 tires!)
POUR POINT (D97), °C -54
......calculated viscosity at -20C=-4F: 868.....BETTER than Dexron III at cold temps
Due to the poor pour point of LTE 24 and the poor flash point of Pentosin 7.1 PS fluid I'm going to try out the Triax HLP 32. At -10C = 14F which is more typical weather for me, personally, it's only about 50% higher viscosity than Dexron III.
