Talking to engine builder now... he is willing to fix it for almost nothing but not give me any money back being it has been 2 years since rebuild!!!!!!!!!! I told him that is not fair and he need to refund a good chunk of my money... so he is going back to the boss again now..... we will see... this is pissing me off again!!! I was nice and calm talking to him... and any of you that know me... know that is rare....

What's "Almost nothing"? He needs to fix it for nothing period. Don't care if it's been 2 years. You have proof here on MUD that the engine has been sitting for all of that time...

I know.... and I told him... I have better internet date stamped doc. than you have ever seen... you and I know that having that engine in there for two years did not defect those parts.... you and I both know you are not treating me fair with this, and you know that this is not the way to treat people........ and I never got any warrantee papers at all with my recipt, signed nothing... we will see what he comes back with...

I talked to the owner yesterday.... some good stuff some yelling... you will all be proud think I only dropped one F bomb during our conversation.... turns out this guys knows my dad better that what I thought and said "oh s***... I know bobby... he has been buying s*** here for 20 years" and I said... "yea me too..."(well not 20 years... haha, but maybe 10) and I just cant believe you are treating me like I am trying to take advantage of you in any way... all I want is a running driving engine, like I paid for..." and I just don’t have the faith that your guy can fix it properly..." "and u know deep down that what you are saying is not the right thing.... you know it is not fair and you also know that time sitting did not cause those parts to fail...." "all I am asking is you do what it right"

Man that sucks. I am about to start re-assembling my 2F myself, and even with doing everything myself besides the machine work I'll probably have almost 3 grand into the engine and other engine-related stuff considering all the crap I have had to replace unexpectedly. I've been reading this thread from time to time, and it's a sweet truck, but I don't recall reading what you spent on the motor. But I know I would be extremely pissed if I paid somebody to put mine together and then it blew up. The only person I can blame if mine blows up really is myself. But the other few engines I built didn't so hopefully all will be OK. But you are really probably only looking at a gasket set, main bearings, rod bearings, and a new crank, possibly just have yours turned if it's not too bad, but from what you describe it doesn't sound like that's the case. Still royally sucks though. Hopefully the shop makes good on it, if not i'm sure you can come up with a good used crank and the other stuff is only a few hundred. Of course I only need a few hundred more to get mine into my truck and I can't come up with it.

just got off the phone with the guy again... he said he has been too busy to come up with a final solution that we will both agree on.
also talked to my lawyer today and he said that we definatly have the ability to move forward with a few option..

man that truely does SUCK big time. all the time and effort you put into building somthing the right way and some one else's crappy job screws you up.
had the same thing happen to me when i was younger with my 57 chevy i built, had the motor in the car a whole 15 minutes... friggin wrist pin had worked it's way out and tore up the cylinder..

I have been following your thread for awhile and am really sorry to read about your engine. Another vote that the machine shop should make it right at no cost to you.
In case any arguement about the time elapsed arises, show him the Hobbs meter you installed....

I see to recall there are two good ways to move forward. One is to put a claim on his bond (assuming he has one). The other one my cousin did to a company that owed him money (don't remember the details, was a bit tipsy at the time). They put some sort of lien against the business license so the owner was not able to renew his license until he made good on the debt.

Really sorry to hear about the motor grenading on you. I find it odd that the owner has been "too busy" coming up with a price you both can agree on. He had a price in mind the minute he found out about the problem. He just knew you tell him to go pound sand. My father has been in the auto business for over 50 years, my brother, a few cousins most of my friends etc. etc. and they told me when I started the resto on my 77 Bronco (over 3 years ago and counting) plan on the worst s*** to happen during this rebuild. This way when something like a motor throwing a rod happens you're not ready to pack it in. Once you're as deep into it as you are nothing will stop you from getting it all right. You would have given up long ago if that was the case. you'll be

well I made a deal with the engine builder to get $1000 cash back, so it is about half what I paid him for everything he did. I figured and hope that I will be able to make it work for this amount of $$. I am going to bring it down to Posers guy in Minneapolis/St. Paul area. work begins tonight and I hope I can get this thing out by this weekend so I can drive it down there. not sure what the rest of the week will bring... we will see... but work starts tonight! pics to come

started pulling engine last night... pictures say it all... worked 4 hours... I wanted to pull the tranny separately but I don’t thing I can, I think the alum.tub will not allow it. The hole is not big enough.
want to get the rest ready to come out tonight and pull on thursday or friday, who can make it there to help? (Pete, Ted, Furball dad? call me if you can help please)
