Can anyone tell or show me what is supposed to go between the fan duct from the firewall and the heater core? Besides 6" of air that is. ;)

Thanks!

Steve

A rubber, unobtainium sleeve.:frown:

About what I thought... My defrost risers are obviously not stock (larger diameter than the dash vent fittings). I was thinking of fabbing a duct from some thin aluminum from the local home center. Add a little duct tape on the duct and voila! I am gonna have to smash the passanger side riser duct a little, though. It sticks about 1/4 into the space for the unobtainium sleeve :D

Seems like I have read that somebody made a new rubber thingy out of a strip of inner tube and contact cement.

SOR does have them.

Can you use a larger duct from a later year? Will it fit? Seems like it should... :hhmm:

I can use up to 9/73. After that they used a completely different design (looking at the pics at SOR). I just don't want to sell off my first born child to pay for it... :D

I'll fab something up.

I used the SOR one and it fits great. You can fab one but it's easier to just buy it; it also has a bend molded into it, since the heater sits a little higher than the duct it's connected to.

Sorry for the hijack--

gsdog what did you use for your defrost ducts??

Those seem to be made from unobtanium as well.

the one piece duct from a newer cruiser fits fine almost bolts in have them in both 69s and 70.good luck

I just received the one SOR sells. You could likely make one from innertube. However, the one from SOR will fit with no fabrication and it is considerably thicker than an innertube. Don't get me wrong I love fabbing things. This was cheap to buy. (I did buy it when SOR had their 20% off sale)

I used some cardboard and d-tape worked good but need to buy one for a cleaner look. for the defrost hoses I used some preheat riser hose it sliped in nice and tight and holds its shape the aluminum looks good to
