Hey folks,

Im looking into painting my fj62 in Olive Drab. I need some inspiration though. Does anyone know of any military that uses The 60 series? how bout 55s or even 80s?

I'm looking for insignia or markings that may designate what units may have used these.

it does not have to be US military. Pics would be appreciated

This is all i could find on the open web

Johnny, is that thread too old? None of your pics show up.
Think you could host them on another site with links?

Pretty sure the only military using FJ60's now is the taliban... all over YouTube... sadly.

those pics in the begining were when i did nt have a star ....so i could only show 10 pics at a time....but...i was blessed with a star.....sooo....i reposted them throught the remaining thread...i've been posting up alot....just not sooo much with that thread anymore....new stuff to research :)

Johnny...i liked ALOT of what you posted. the bandi thing was very new to me. i kept seeing square headlights on 40s and it didnt make any sense!

It doesnt look like 60's were ever used by anything but rebels. Just have to do something on my own.

I thinking just plain olive drab. I do like the way Jeffs looks though. i'll lay downt he OD and see howthat looks i guess. i can always add to it from there.

Big Red, Yeah just put down the OD then decide from there. I almost left mine all OD because it looked so good. You could always add color later if you wanted a change. Even if it was from a rattle can you'd still have a good base coat. Post your pix because whatever you do I'll be cool.

how'd you prep yours? i dont really know that much about painting. did you paint over existing paint or sand it off? did you put down primer first?

I am no expert . The rig looks better 20 feet away. I sanded the loose paint off did what body work I could. I tried not to fuss over all the details. Then roughed up the rest masked and sprayed primer then color. I just have a cheap Home Depot gun. I think It would of turned out better if I had a better gun with different tips. The local auto body supply guys were a great source of knowledge. Most were just out of school and very excited to help with my questions. I think it was a good experience. I learned a lot and had fun. I could/would not try it on a classic car. Ah the beauty of a trail rig.
