So I found another GX that I am trying to go look at this week. Ad states the mileage is 167k. It is a 2004. When I pull up the history on the Carfax and the Lexus website it shows the mileage at 81k in 06/011, 201k in 11/2015 and then 205k in 12/2015, and then 118k in 02/2016. The 81k and the 118k were put in by The same dealership and the 201k and 205k were put in by a different dealership. Both are large Lexus dealerships. Carfax also shows 97k in 4/2013. Thoughts? If the 201k and 205k are typos then that means it was only driven a few thousand miles from 2013 to 2016...which is also weird.

Carfax also shows ‘Functional damage’ from a rear collision. No airbags deployed. Bad?

The seller has owned it since 2009 according to Carfax and has no idea about the mileage discrepancy.

The Carfax also shows 2 different dealers reporting on it on maintenance dates....which I have never seen before.

Appears to be typos between dealers. Possibly transposed numbers in the vin. Should be pretty easy to get it sorted out. Truck can’t be in SC and MN at the same time.

With conflicting mileage on a carfax, I would steer clear. The gauge cluster may have been swapped.

have you tried my Lexus Enform to see what it says about the GX. the CarFax is not making any sense

I had a similar situation in Arizona last year, mileage and price seemed too good to be true, after a test drive the used dealer told me about the mileage discrepancy between two maintenance dates, and that it should be easy to report and fix. I asked a friend, who frequents car auctions and also owns a used car dealership, and he said that although it is not uncommon for mechanics to "fat-finger" the wrong mileage during a service visit - it is almost impossible to get it rectified with Carfax and the DMV. I dropped it at that point.

why not check with the VIN number on the Lexus site ?

also, when you call a Lexus dealer service department with the VIN number, they are usually willing to tell you of any recent maintenance recommendations and whether the customer followed or declined those recommendations

I have had good experience with both approaches

that all make sense. I guess what I was trying to say is if I tried to resell it and couldn't get it rectified with Carfax and the DMV, then it would be an issue with any buyers. But I probably wouldn't plan on selling it anytime soon anyway so it probably wouldn't have been a problem there's one or two other fishy things about that car too.
