Memorial Day Wrenching and Project catch-up (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone, Happy Memorial Day!

It's beautiful here in Northern VA and I'm hoping everyone else has some great weather to enjoy the day off.

I meant to post this earlier in the morning, but as I'm just getting to my projects, you can imagine how the day has started (3 daughters under 4.5 yrs old).

So let's hear it. What projects or repairs is everyone doing today?

I'm tackling a number of electrical projects.
* Removing DS & PS seats for mounting tasks
* Pulling the center console for ease of running wire and maybe tap into those 3 switched connections under there.
* Mounting the Whelen strobe power pack under DS for the hideaways I've already mounted into the front marker and rear blinker lights. Going to try to wire in the "on switch" using the Hazard button, so one button truly throws it all on and keeps it stealth.
* Mount power distribution panel under PS seat to side of rear heater (Thanks, Christo). - Will run 8 gauge there I think.
* 2 goose neck flexible map lights to mount (maybe side of console b/w seats or front PS-side of radio). One is a Hella (Clear) and the other a Federal Signal Littlite (Red).
* To prepare for finish of rear storage system (carcass is built and installed, just need to put the drawers together and mount them), I'm running a 4 gauge line to the rear passenger 1/4 panel, and connecting it to a Blue Sea distribution center
* Slee Headlight & Auxiliary Light Harness with 9012 HIR light bulb replacements.
* Last but not least, the dual battery setup. I have the PS tray in as of Sat, but need some 4g ring terminals to wrap this all up.

It'll be interesting to see how far I get thru my list.

Wow!!! That is a list...sure hope that you work faster than me...I would get a few of those things done but not all...Good luck and looking forward to doing some mods myself soon..

Haha sounds similar to my list although different stuff. I KNOW I wont get very far only because I don't have all the supplies I need. Very cool to read some of the stuff you have going on. Look forward to seeing some pics.

I just did the front axle service with new rotors. About to go bed them now.

I mowed the weeds in my backyard and unpacked from a two day camping trip.

thats quite the list!

being a canadian and all..we dont have memorial day. but having the 'rental units in town for the week to see their latest grandchild allowed me to wrench a bit the last couple days.

did the PHH (woohoo!), coolant flush, t-stat change and starter contacts. was thinking about doing the fuel filter...but maybe next time.

Really? That for sure should take a solid day if you do it all and do a quality job. It'll be nice knowing it's done. Mine is just now starting to show signs of another rebuild. It's been almost 100,000 miles since i did it last. It's been nice knowing it was done right

I cleaned every part to the nth degree as I went, and let's just say I could've used a few more s....

Little stuff, like separating the hub from the rotor (first one I did on the ground, the second on the truck) stumped me and I had to get creative. (no vice)

Then the differences between the FSM and the 80s faq combined with my own inexperience had me wondering about all sort of stuff.

I put new trunions and wheel bearings, including the races, oil seals, etc.

My freaking driveway (going to pressure wash it now)

I need a freakin Advil.

No work on the 80 but the 40 got a new 350 today.

Broken shock mount and brakes at all corners. Not a busy weekend at all

New brake pads & brake bleed and oil change. Birf rebuild next weekend with some local mudders.

Replaced my ac idler pulley,changed my rear diff oil, greased the ujoints, and a wash/wax

My Labor Day

Took to the task of starting the OME swap out. Not a big wrencher and first try at suspension stuff. Followed SLEE's guide and went OK. Took about 3 hrs for the front and the back will have to wait till later in the week. Second the Advil! So for now I have a reverse stink bug!

Did an emergency birfield job on a 1993 80. Totally grenaded long side--hub/spindle/bearings/caliper/rotor/birf--toast--welded and melted together.

It was fun indeed. Completely rebuilt and running smooth as of this AM.
