Nice rig - how do you like the kumho's?

Hoosier Daddy, Great rig. I just noticed your thread. I wish my HDJ81 was that shiny. Paint is in the future, just not before some more mechanical....

SunTzuMD was asking about your Kumho's. I have a set of Road Venture AT's (315/75/16) on my DD F250 4x4 Super Duty. They have about 9000 miles on them currently, and I expect to have to replace them in the next 2-3000. They work great, traction, ride all good. Life expectancy TERRIBLE!
Hopefully you have better luck with yours. My Ford does see a few more heavy loads than my LC would, but, the good ole BFG's that I took off had about 60000 on them.

Just my .02 on the subject.....

Keep up the great work on The Mistress. My wife would call our LC that, except it is her DD!

I swapped EVERY fluid on the vehicle, including oil, power steering, trans, all 3 diffs, and brakes
Flushed radiator
PHH
New Belts
HIR headlights (best money spent on these trucks)
New brake pads front and rear
plugs, wires, rotor, distrib cap, distrib o-ring
T-stat, Radiator cap
lubed sunroof
air filter
wiper refills
PCV and grommet
Clay bar, Polish, and wax
Fixed all the little nagging broken things, like antenna, horns, windshield washer valve, loose mirrors, busted speakers, rattles, etc...

Hoses look good so not changed yet - other than PHH (which actually looked fine too).
Knuckles look really good, so will put that job off until next year, when I'll do wheel bearings too.
This summer I might get ambitious and clean the throttle body, but it's not a priority.

That's a good list - whew... how long did that take ya!? 3-4months?!... :) Nice work.

You'll wonder what you ever did without it. SMOOOOOOTH!

I'm going to do it to the whole vehicle soon as I put the Herculiner on the roof and lower half. :) So, I'll only have to do the hood and upper half of the doors + tailgate. Looking forward to posting my build pics with the smooth shiny body soon.

Got some photos of the lift and sliders, along with a photo of the Bump-it transfer skid.

I broke the rear Land Cruiser nameplate in half when trying to fix the mounting tape in 20 degree weather. Ooops. :whoops:

Anyway, the original was not the black chrome style (like on a 40th Anniv model), but my truck came with the black chrome sombrero and 4WD emblems. So I upgraded to the black chrome nameplate for a few dollars more. Looks much better, I think.

Also, recently added a couple Quick Fists for my maglite and fire extinguisher.

Took off the rust rack,... er, roof rack and wind deflector. The truck is generally corrosion-free, but there was some rust starting under those roof add-ons. I used POR-15 and then filled in the roof rack holes with stainless hardware. I left the ribs on the roof, as there was no rust with any of those holes.

Then I got a set of 4 Yakima 1A towers with locks off eBay for $50. I went to Home Depot and picked up 10' of 3/4 steel pipe for $15. I cut the pipe in half and painted it with 3 coats of Plasti-Dip. Then I went to Ace and got some end caps that fit perfectly for a buck each. So, I have about $70 into my new "Yakima" rack. I wound some bungie cords around the bars and now there's no wind noise.

Also added an Ultragauge. Pretty cool little gadget. Mounted it under the ashtray.

One more little toy was the Tamiya model I got off eBay and painted to look like my truck. Turned out pretty well.

Clean 80. Me like.

Is it odd that you'd have the black chrome emblems but chrome mirrors and door handles? Kind of like a PO had a split personality...

Just a few little updates and photos -

Biggest new item is an ARB I got used for $300. Painted it with Rustoleum Hammer Black (which is actually charcoal grey) using a roller. Color matches the rear bumper. Added LED signals, Nakman clear lenses, and a pair of Hella 700ff driving lights linked to the high beams.

Got a factory fog switch without the indicator LED for the Hellas.
