Hello!

I am so excited I have finally gotten around to introducing my beach cruiser to all of you!

I got me a 1983 FJ60. 3rd owner...170,000 miles...just rebuilt the top end...installed roof racks...patched a few rust holes...put in a CD player...31 inch tires...Old school original BLUE California license plates...custom two-tone paint (sort-of)...only ONE DENT in the entire body...about 2 inches long...barely noticeable on the front right fender...

I am in the process of installing speed holes and remove excess weight through natural decomposition...I should improve my fuel economy...right?

I mostly use it for beach cruising and surf-wagoning...it rarely strays east of the 101...

Future plans...convertible-ization...either intentional or accidental...roll bar (for safety)...more patching...running water exterior shower...

I thought CA rigs were supposed to be rust free? Thats worse then mine which has been in the rust belt all of its life. I guess living near the ocean is worse then life in the salt roads.

Well here's the thing...it's rusting from the top down...not the bottom up...

most rust is from standing water in the raingutters and being parked so close to the salt air all its life...

the underside is rust free...the frame and all wheel wells are 100%...

go figure...

I had a 1988 Toyota 4x4 truck in college that was rust free...when i drove it out to Missouri it looked like an anomaly...

That should be a convertible! Roll cage from MetalTek and a custom soft top made in Tijuana for June gloom. A topless with a couple of longboards mounted to a cage would look :O. Btw, Man I miss the Carnitas at Juanitas in Encinitas!!!!!

Good choice.

Your plans for its use are an appropriate finish for that rusty cruiser. I would rather see one go out as a beach buggy than to the crusher. You are doing the humane thing.

COOL !!

That thing is a battle-worn veteran, still proudly cruisin'

I love it! Keep it rolling, man!!

:bounce2:

Has some very ingenius gutter repairs

Vote to leave as is; I'd copy that frankenstein aluminum stitch style for sure and rock it for a while before chopping the top and going all Tencha-style on it.

I love the care that was taken with the roof rack mount point... :D

She's still got her good looks.

x2 on keeping her rolling.

Welcome

btw your interior looks much cleaner than mine :flipoff2:

Hello, battle cruiser. That 60 looks very familiar. Did you by chance buy it off of a guy that lives between Swamis & Leucadia?

blue plates are cool...

i ran one for a billion years til cali threatened to take my car away, now im colorado and smog exempt...

but i feel somehow morally cheaper:frown:

Hey, that's cool... I bet you don't even get the traffic ticket extortion from Tijuana Police when you head to Rosarito for lobster...
