I've had 40s and my son and I DD 100s, but never a 60. Bought this beast from a guy in CO and drove it ALL THE WAY back to Alabama. Whew. Zero issues other than the alignment being off, causing death wobble after about 600mi of wearing the tires unevenly.

I want to get it a tad more road friendly so I can safely drive it to trails with kids in the truck. That's priority #1.

1983 FJ60
SOA
37" KM2s
1.5" Wheel Spacers
64" Rear Leafs and 42" Front Leafs - Wheelbase spread 7"
Marlin High Steer
4.88s
Front and Rear Lockers

160k on 2F, runs like a champ.

Looks great!

Monster truck! Steering shimmy may be a permanent issue with those big dogs.

Someone stole your bumpers.

Kidding looks good.

With all of that customization of the suspension and steering, I would find a good old school 4x4 shop and have them look at it.

It looks like you are running an almost identical suspension setup as I am, rear springs up front with a shackle reversal and Chevy truck springs in the rear. What shocks are you running and how does it ride/handle? Post up a bunch of good pictures of the suspension. Go to harbor freight and get the cheap angle finder, park your rig on flat ground and put it on top of your steering knuckle to check the caster. Post up what you find.

I'd aim for between 1/8-1/4" of toe in with those tires. You can easily do your own alignment with angle iron and a tape measure.

Looks like it will be an awesome fun trail rig, its basically already completely set up for fun. :)

Appreciate the info. I’m contemplating putting an OME steering stabilizer on it. There are a LOT of potholes here in North AL and with every bump of course comes bump steer.

I’ll take some pics and post them up a little later. I’m hoping that getting the toe in set right helps the handling!!

Oh yes. She had to help her grandparents pick apples. Thought it would be perfect to drive the 60 under the tree. She was right!!

What kind of MPG are you getting with the 37’s and 488’s
With my 2F/ H55h and At 65 mph I’m at 2500rpm, so I’m guessing I have 411s
You truck looks great. Looks great.

what's the idea behind your 60 name ..?

Bandido = bandit

Bendito = blessed

for 7" increased wheelbase it looks very " stockish "

It’s looks about right for 7” stretch, I moved my front axle forwards 3” and it looks pretty much the same. Hanger even looks like it’s in pretty much the same spot.

The name was given by the previous owner. He named it after some crazy house cat they had. It just looks like "El Bandito" so I kept the name.

Mileage - Running 55-65 on the interstate, I got between 14.5 and 14.7 on every tank. I was shocked, I expected 12.

I've got to check / tweak the carb and timing now that it's not in Denver any more!

I hear ya . Last Sept driving back from VA to Socal with my truck packed to the roof and a RTT and weighting 7460 pounds, I averaged 12.3. With some 15s and 16s in the mix .
I'm back in the 10s but cruising at 60-70.

Was wondering how bad 35" 12.5x15 would rub with my 4"+ lift, re arched springs.
