If I had mad skills I'd overlay a track, but alas I didn't know how to do that with my old GPS....well still don't know how with my new one but it is capable so I think I'll figure it out after I get the track into the GPS.....okay ramble, my bad :grinpimp:

P.S. I hope that the maps are at least a bit of help if for nothing more than reference.

Here's a big pic of the event run if it helps any. I probably have a track along the gravel roads but don't see one immediately-

I am pretty sure the way we've always gone out is at the saddle closer to the campground (says "Cleopatra Mine" on my map).. follow that road (labelled 302) back to the heavy dash-lined road (112 / 4402) and on out to O'Brien. This is to figure how to get into the campground directly if it is being run in reverse.

I have a number of TOPO! files with various McGrew names on them you can load and see if you get anything reasonable. Can't vouch for what's in them. I bet one is some planning of routes out of Cave Junction to the coast.

(first one is probably best, has tracks in and out)

Great thanks!
Ok, I hope I dont get flamed for this too bad, but in order to run the TLCA event in July at Mcgrew, I must be a TLCA member (which im not, YET) and pay for membership to the Jefferson State Cruisers, right? Am I missing somthing?

Thanks!

You have to sign up for the McGrew and pay the entrance fee and be a TLCA member. But since you haven't joined the TLCA yet then you don't have the McGrew registration form to fill in and send off. I don't think the form is setup online as of yet either, but not sure.

Last issue a couple of weeks ago. Tony Twiddy is a member of Pacific Mountain Cruisers who puts on the McGrew. Jeff Bomke is the one to mail the payments to, also a PMC member. Tony & Jeff are the ones that have always done the McGrew and this is the first year we are stepping in to help. Tony is usually slammed dealing with Rubithon and scrambles to get the McGrew Trail Ride together.

Oh yeah, I should probably register at some point :grinpimp:

Hey JSC's. I was planning on doing this pre-run with you guys, but I just broke my junk (rear brake shoes delaminated & master needs replaced) Ordered parts, but decided to swap in 4.88's at the same time. Sooo .... no 40 for end of June, but .... I'll be on my quad (yellow Honda 500 Rubicon), with at least 5 others on the trail the same time as you. I thought about running with you on the quad, but it's not the same :) We'll be running the trail in both directions on Saturday. We haven't decided where to camp yet (thinking Cedar Springs or Sourdough), but it will be somewhere on the route Saturday night (couldn't talk them into Fri. night the same as you).

Anyway, I really would like to try to run into you guys somewhere & say hi, see how things are jelling for the PMC/JSC sponsored TLCA run, etc. Keep an eye out for me or PM me for my cell # (they do work in some places on the trail :)

I'm down for staying thru the weekend.... I don't mind running backward Satruday and then back down the fs road to SD for another night...

I am going to leave the JSC portable HQ at home so I don't have to drive back to SD. Just planning to sleep under the stars!

I'm sure we will run into each other out there. I am thinking a 10 AM start out of Sourdough should work well.

Think im flying solo (:princess: is almost out of vacations days, and we a few more trips already planned) on this one and might do the same.

I've got the monkeys so I'm tentin' it, but plannin' on minimal...

For fun here is a kmz (google earth) of the map Ken posted, can easily be converted into track, route or GPS overlay on the GPS.

And our path that was logged last time we tried to get to SD in March with the whole stolen truck incident.
