i have read many threads and searched but guess i wasn't using the correct wording.

just as the title says, whats the max tire size for a stock 40 axle (76 front, 75 rear) before you start destroying axles?

54s if you're driving on the road and take it easy.

33s if you wheel hard.

It's all relative.

Are you looking to put the strongest parts in these axles? With 30spliners and fine spline pinions you will be pretty safe with 40s

not at the moment, as i break stuff i will replace it with stronger pieces, but im not wanting to just go 40s on it and destroy it, i want the axles to last for a while before i start having part failures in the axles due to tire size. so i guess im asking for a max size for stock axles

ok so i hate starting new threads so how much is this top actually worth? he is asking $500

Looks like there is no door. Hard tops in good condition are tough to come by. I would inspect it before buying for sure. I guess the question is how much you need/want a hard top. I wouldn't buy one without the hatch, though.

I'd give $400 for a complete hardtop in good shape if I needed one.

he said he has the rear ambulance doors for sale as well. no rust or anything on the top, won't be able to look at it for a few weeks tho. and its local thats a BIG +.

how much would you suggest paying for top and rear doors, assuming there is minimal to no rust

X 2 to all the above :D with 35's. Even with all the upgrades - still will depend on how you drive before you consider going too much larger....

plan on 35's for now. and once i get the major things done with the 40, i will build the axles eventually when money permits. still have alot on the list before i will even consider going to 37's.

It’s a 77+ so the it has the cool little rear pop out windows. Check the seals and make sure all the hardware is there for the windows to stay closed.

Without any of the doors, $400 is a fair price for low-no rust. (Check on the inside corners of the top, they can be rusty an the owner not know it) Also make sure no one has drilled any holes in the fiberglass top for lights, etc.

Good clean amby doors can be worth almost as much as the top since they are easy to ship to the rust belt and Canada.

it will fit my 75 correct since both have amby doors?

might as well ask 1 more quick question.
the rig i have is sprung over, still need shocks. what is the advantage to putting the f250 shock mounts on the frame

it all depends on how you drive, but my TLC used 38,5 x15x16 TSL

why are you guys wasting your time with tires? I hear the new rage is using tracks! You can go anywhere :)
