@hotwheels2017 your pictures helped me a TON when I took this on earlier today. Still have issues with my driver's window rolling up sadly, which was the whole reason I took it apart, anyone know how to fix the intermittent issue where it sometimes doesn't want to roll up? Have to pull the button harder for it to engage sometimes, but sometimes it works as it should. The contacts inside the switch for the driver's side window looked strange to me.

When I re-installed my power window lock-out switch, I put it together through the top cover, and then slid the whole assembly down, using a small flat head to push the contacts of the lock-out switch in while pushing the top and bottom halves together on a flat surface. The way the pictures above are, there is no way to hook the peg onto the lower half of the switch since there's pressure on it. It's cumbersome to put it back together while holding the top cover but it was the only way I was able to do it. Hope that helps someone else who does this.

Yep, I used a small file on the contacts until they were nice and shiny again, with some contact cleaner. The auto up/down confused me and the actual thin copper traces looked bent. I'll have to take a picture the next time I take it out. It seems to work a lot more often than it used to which is nice at least!

so tried to do this tonight. All windows worked, just passenger from window was intermittent. Took apart, cleaned the contacts with a soft brass brush, small dab of electric grease. Shot the damn spring across the garage....damn spring

About to take mine apart, but I'm losing sleep about the #%$@#%#$#$ spring! :bang:

Edit: Just completed this last night, no issues other than the driver switch giving me some problems during reinstall. Under the driver switch, there is a small spring and pointed pin that rides on top back and forth of a plastic 'V' to rock the switch back and forth. It had fallen out when I took it apart and had not noticed I was missing it....until about the 4th reassemble.

Also, with the window lock switch: once you remove the door trim that houses the switches, you can take a pocket knife or a flathead screw driver and pop off the cap of the lock switch without causing any issues with the rest of the locking mechanism/spring. Once this is off, you have enough clearance to pull the switch panel in half, clean the contacts (I scraped them all clean with a pocket knife and wiped with contact cleaner, you could use a small file as well), reinstall the switch panel with the 4x small screws, pop the window lock cap back on (press it down firmly, it pops back on), and then reinstall the switch housing (3x larger screws) that pops into the driver's door.

All 4x windows working perfectly again (driver rear was hit or miss before). The contacts were definitely showing their age. Thanks to everyone for the input on this thread, saved a few bucks and don't need to buy a new master switch just yet.

Just tackled this project. Also removed window and mechanical assembly to clean and lube as well as pull the window run channel to clean with soap and water.

That damned little spring is a pain in the rear. I nearly pulled my hair out trying to figure it out

It was not until I figured out that I could just pop the black button cap off of the white plunger to reassemble it.
I think I had every spring and switch rocker fall out on me getting to that point.

My contacts and board had carbon everywhere. It was a mess. Used Contact Cleaner and rubbing alcohol to clean it all up.

Works way better, used to get scary when it started getting cold out and the window wouldn't roll up, especially if it were raining or snowing out. Fun times.

Thanks for all of the tips. Really helped out.

I took mine apart today and the spring flew out. Using some plastic glue I glued the head of the little sping to its home and let it sit until it was dry. Then reassembled and the spring stayed during installation. Fyi

Driver side window not going up. I pulled the control and cleaned, but I think there was a small plastic piece that disappeared. lol I attached pictures of the switch, can anyone tell me if there is anything missing there? Also is there a way to manual get the window up? Thanks

I know this is an old thread but I’ll take my chances that someone can help after the great passage of time.

I pulled apart my master switch assembly to clean all the typical blackened contacts, in hopes of fixing a lock issue. Cut to the chase, that damn little master window lock spring stayed in position until I was reassembling everything. I didn’t even notice that it had gotten slightly dislodged, so when pressing the two halves back together that damn little spring got deformed and bound up. Pulled it apart and noticed this.

And I SOL? I cannot figure out what function that damn little spring even serves because it won’t position itself as it should. But I do know that the master window lock button will not work without it.

Helpful tips appreciated!

@Malleus any idea what's the difference between this one and the more expensive 8482032150 unit? I cleaned my master switch up a while back (3 years ago based on my last response in here!) on my '94, but she's back causing problems again. Ole girl gonna get a new switch instead of cleaning contacts, etc. again. She had a good 30 year run. Thanks for the parts ref by the way!

Great question. Toyota Parts Deal is $304.79 for OEM same part number.
