I know Mark is a poster here and I was dismayed to see in my most recent issue of Toyota Trails that he will no longer be the tech editor. His tech column was the main reason I even belonged to the TLCA and I've learned a ton reading it over the past 10 years. Since TT hasn't had his tech column for the past couple of issues i suspected something was up.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I will not renew my membership in TLCA. When they start putting a picture of a Toyota truck on the cover o TT, it's time to go. And when there are more pics and articles about FJ Cruisers or Tacomas or 4 Runners in TT than Land Cruisers, I'm out.

Best of luck Mark and thanks for your columns. Thanks for the vent guys,
Pete

You might want to find out why Mark isn't in charge of that column any more before you go bitching at TLCA... Just sayin'.

The moment I saw a Tacoma on the cover I told my wife, the s*** was going to hit the fan for some. Personally I don't care, Toyota 4x4's of all descriptions are welcome in the TLCA, those are the rules, it was a nice cover.

As for Mark, I don't know what has happened, kind of bummed to see that too, but I felt the tech info was just as good in the last two issues, and perhaps the info for newer rigs is good, as there is a pretty good shift from 40's and 60's to 80's and 100's in recent years.

I've never even made a sanctioned event, but I still very much enjoy the trails and I enjoy this board and all the great people I have met. TLCA is a pretty small fee for some great friends and a good publication I think.

No, no, no... not trying to start fights!

I should have added in my post that the reason is on page 4 of the new (Sept/Oct) issue of Trails. "Mark also has a life outside of Cruisers" etc etc.

Sheesh. :flipoff2:

Thanks, I think I am the last person on Earth to receive their issue of the Trails when they ship. Glad to hear no  is involved.

My 2 pence....
It will be hard to find a replacemen for Mark but i understand that there is a life beside LCs and the TLCA for him.;)

Thanks for all the years Mark spent for supporting us with his knowledge and experience!:wrench::beer:

It doesnt really matter to me if there is a FJC or a Tacoma on the frontpage, the people behind the steering wheel make the difference.

well said Peter

a little birdie told me...

...that there's a new tech-editor...You won't be disappointed in this person's credentials and infinite knowledge of Cruisers. that's all I'll say about that for now.

Mark's contributions were one of the first things I'd check out. I'll still check the tech section first... ;)

I agree with Peter (from homberg, Germany) that People make the difference.

How much New tech can be covered on a 40 series that has not been avaliable in USA for 23 years? How much New tech can be covered on a 60 series that has not been avaliable in USA for 19 years?
How much New tech can be covered on a 62 series that has not been avaliable in USA for 17 years?

I won't say it has all been covered but just try to think of something on the models listed above that would be "New" tech. From the articles I have read, Mark has done a fine job in the past and maybe it's just time to pass the torch.

This has been hashed out many times before. TLCA is a volunteer organization. The contributions in TT are from the membership. If folks driving 4R, Tacos and FJCs are the ones submitting articles, and the folks with LCs are not, well, what do you expect? They are members too and deserve space in their magazine.

I wonder how much Mark was paid by TLCA over the years. Nothing, maybe?. This group was blessed to have him as LC tech editor. I learned a lot from him and I didn't own a LC for a long time. If it wasn't for Mark I'd probably still just have the 4R in the garage.

Bye bye.

Tech was high quality in the new issue. I hope this will give Mark some time to write about other things in the TT once in a while.

I agree I do miss reading marks stuff... I always was the first thing I read no matter what... I am willing to give the new guy a shot... I did enjoy his first stuff...

Thanks mark...

if you don't like the content, you can do something about it. tlca is what you make it.

no offense to you, but your comments on not renewing because there's a pickup on the cover are shallow and don't reflect well on you.

I'd like to see you write an article for TT every 2 months for the many years he has done it! We should thank him and hope we can find someone that is as generous with his time and talent as Mark has been. Thanks Mark for the many years and a ton of knowledge that you have devoted to TT!

Later,

TLCA does stand for Toyota Land Cruiser Association, but it represents awesome people who are like minded Toyota enthusists enjoying camraderie and their trucks.
