So how are these holding up? I noticed the biggest section available for the ABS from Tap Plastics is a 2'X4' section.

That seems like it'd be enough for one side, right?

Do you think that diamond plate plastic from McMaster could be used for the rear floor? Wonder what would be a good thickness. I don't think it should be too thick, then the metal trim that holds it down might not be able to compress it enough.

Any input?

Thanks

They are holding up OK. However I am disappointed that the diamond plate has shunk, leaving about 1/4" of the ABS exposed around the perimeter. I don't know if this is just what vinyl does, or whether it is a reaction with the adhesive I used.

48" is long enough to do one of the side panels. I have a tap plastics store nearby and they have 4x8 sheets that they will cut down to any size.

I've thought about using the diamond plate for the floor, but I don't think it comes wide enough to make it one piece. But I think that SOR has something, or at least did.

I used masonite with the smooth side out. Pretty tough stuff and very cheap, already brown like my interior. Stainless screws into whatever was behind it, didn't seem to matter. I attached the speaker boxes to the masonite then put extra screws into some of the vertical posts behind the panels that didn't originally have fasteners in them. I used self-adhesive weather strip all the way around to create a good seal and keep the dust out of the vehicle. Very solid, no rattles from the speakers

Specter Off-Road Land Cruiser Parts - Page 345 Floor & Cargo Liner

I might just have to go the $OR route on the cargo liner.

OR I just found this in another thread.

Even better than the $OR option since it comes in colors.

Floor Carpet/Vinyl - Cargo Area

At today's exchange rate, it costs about $85.72 not including shipping which I'm sure will be bad

actually not too bad. Esh started a thread on this - here it is. Still waiting to see the final install, but looks like a good source, if a bit slow from down under.

Here's the thread:

Here are some shots of what I did this weekend. The flash on the camera seems to make the carpet way lighter than the carpet on the floor, but it looks pretty close in normal light. The carpet is Lowes indoor/outdoor grey carpet. I fastened the new panel down with stainless steel bolt ans speed nuts in the original holes. The material is 1/4" tempered hardboard which is super strong as tough so it seemes to be appropriate. I can tell you that the 20 dollar speakers I had back actually sounds really nice, with the added output of the speakers I think I am going to add some damplifier in the rear area.

Looks good! what size are those rear speakers? I'm trying to figure out if i can fit some 10"s in those spots... I'd like a little more "bump" after i get my damplifier installed.

Great build btw - liked your ROTW!

I've been using the CCOT vinyl cargo mat and it's held up well. It doesn't have the diamond plate pattern, though.

That looks nice too and it has the piece for the back of the rear seat. Hmm
