I am looking for some good LED map lights with approx 12" long necks on them. I have seen the Hella and the oshrams, but these are both incandescent. I have looked on the net, but not been too successful. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

I'm tagging along, also interested if there is something out there.

Karl.... maybe i can double up on an order with you, save on shipping..... might be a good excuse to meet up for a beer or something.

I head down to Dallas next week and will have them shipped to my hotel. These will be carry on. Ideally I would like to see them in person before I buy them, but its looking as though I will have to order them. I spent some time unsuccessfully looking for these in Dallas.

I would like to get at least 2: one for my son to use in the 2nd row, and one for the copilot. I think both the osram and the hella are overpriced. The ones that bigndn pointed are sexy, but expensive. Only one of these these are LED, and its a blue LED, not near white, and it needs to be run from a voltage drop device to get down to the 12v (usb is 9v). It has a blue filter on it that could be removed. I could swap the bulbs for LEDs in the others I suppose.

Hmm, I will keep looking. If I find something I will keep you updated.

Thanks Karl.....

Don't forget TaskLED

Don't forget about George's lights.

Look through the PRODUCT section for the Flex lights.

Kinda spendy, but top notch IMOP.

Just an option. He's got other LED products that fit TLCs as well.

Not sure of he manufacturer but the guys that build the EarthRoamers use the sickest maplights I've ever seen. They're led touchlights with multiple brightness settings and a red Led in the center that is the contact switch that you touch to switch between the settings. Super cool but expensive as all get out.

I currently have a 24" Hella in the 60 that I picked up for $20 and am contemplating doing an LED conversion to.

any way you guys can post some photos of your map light set ups??

I'll see what I can come up with. I'm notoriously bad at saying I'll post pics and never getting around to it though so don't hold your breath if you value your life.

Here you go. Hella with red lens. Also you can see the red "foot well" light I'm testing. I'm gonna change that to 2 lights, one one each side of he tranny hump, on a switch.

It's not the shipping but the trust that something/the right thing will be shipped... and my recourse if it arrives and is "bad" in some way. (I don't wanna have to ship it back to HK) While I don't have a problem with the world market I do like to buy locally when possible for these reasons (as well as supporting a more local sector of the economy.

sorry... but you asked... ;-)
