I am looking for some good LED map lights with approx 12" long necks on them. I have seen the Hella and the oshrams, but these are both incandescent. I have looked on the net, but not been too successful. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

Karl

I don't want this or any map light, I was just trying to help out the original poster. I am currently shopping for M416 trailer lights and if you search ebay for "Military lights" this is one of the items that is listed and it is LED:rolleyes:

No thanks, I'm good.

Really though I didn't mean anything other than to point it out that it wasn't in the US...

OK then;)

Yeah, I saw those ebay lights too. My issue with cheap LED lights is that the LEDs are actually blue, not white. I have read that Georges lights are too bright; however, I have also read about one fellow who used Georges dimmer with the map light. That, so far, is the direction I am heading.

Avoid this one. It is made by Jotto Desk and has the highest failure rate I've ever seen.

Littlite, see link

Both mine are over 15 years old and still as good as day one. Bob

I've installed hundreds of these and they are great. As you can see, they have a very diverse line with alot of options. Here's the LED model:http://www.fedsig.com/products/index.php?id=171

I got a flex light from from a discount shop, its intended to be used on notebooks and has a USB plug on the end. My lil brother has put his electronic engineering degree to use and told me what size resistor I need to make it work off 12V

Total cost was $2AU for the flexi LED light, and a few cents for a resistor

Any tip on a good place to buy this?

There is a dealer list on the littlite site. You may be able to find them locally. The FedSig one's are made by Littlite but they look like like they may be slightly different cosmetically.

I wish it was as easy as telling you I could sell you one, but unfortunately, the company I work for doesn't sell to the general public. It appears as if you work for emergency services? Perhaps that might help. I do know that these aren't cheap though.

YOWZA! This guy is $145.00

Finally found a dealer for the Littlite 12V LED map lights. I got the vertical mount version, but the 9/18 LED is the flat-mount type for basically the same light-

what i ordered-
Littlite L-5/18 LED at Performance Audio

Post back once you get it installed to let us know how the light output and dispersion works out.

Hello
woytovich are your foot lights LED or regular bulb type ?

It's a simple LED red marker light I got from the autoparts store. I'll be probably putting in 2 in the front (located just off the tranny hump up under the dash facing down and out-ish to light the foot wells rather than the hump) and one or 2 under the back edge of my Tuffy center console ("aimed" so that they provide wide coverage) for the back.
