just received my new mamba turbo and if you press the compressor wheel to one side it is able to hit the housing leaving a slight mark only in one spot. I have emailed mamba but still awaiting response. Is this normal for a journal bearing turbo as I don't want to fit the turbo and have a failure destroying the engine

Some movement is allowed but no touching. I was actually surprised when I received my Mellet CHRA and fitted it t my CT26 to see how much movement there was. However there was no touching. I would try getting in contact with them a returning the unit for a replacement.

Yeah still waiting to hear back from them. It only rubs in one spot so I was thinking maybe the compressor housing is slightly off centre. But we will see what they have to say about it.

Apart from the scrape marks its a nice looking turbo

I saw these on eBAY about half the price of the others. I wonder how they will go long term.

Mamba finally got back and has agreed to accept turbo back for refund but wants me to pay postage to ship it back! Overall bad experience dealing with this guy. Has anyone else had problems with his products? Have managed to source some hi flow turbos from local suppliers for around the same price of the mamba

Not mentioning names, but be aware that the average turbo place has very little idea in the world of diesel. What works on a high-revving petrol doesn't work in a diesel application.
I looked at plenty of other options and decided to get a GTurbo.

On the 1hz,1hd/t/ft/fte modification's & upgrades Facebook page Munro turbos gets great reviews with their turbos. It can't be worse than the Taiwanese Mamba turbo

I have over 10,000km on my Mamba turbo. TD05-18G /9-11. 25psi. Runs as strong as the Day I installed it. See my previous posts as I also had some issues. Mamba reslved some very quickly and ignored other questions altogether...overall satisfied. Performance has been very good.
Did an inspection recently and everything seems fine.

On a different note how does a nine blade turbine compare to a twelve blade when cruising at normal speeds. When cruising 100km/hr I am boosting apx 8 to 10 psi would a twelve blade turbine be boosting higher in this situation?? Would it come on boost sooner?

Cheers

Mamba has re-paid all money. I would have been happy running the turbo as I was only after 20psi boost to start with. I still haven't got a turbo yet. He hasn't replied what was wrong with the 1 he sent me guess we will never no.

Sorry to hear about that. Bought a mamba turbo and got one for a gas job. Still sitting on my wirk bench.
Also they use cheap steel....sat in my cruiser over the winter (under hood) and the rust was unreal come spring time. Let me know how you make out
Later
