Anybody been on the Magruder Road Corrider? From Elk City, Idaho to Darby Montana (or visey versa). I'm putting together a trip out there summer of 07, (late July) to do Magruder and the Lolo trail in Idaho.

Looking for first hand information..and Bear information, like are there Grizzleys in central Idaho. oh my!?

Magruder road is great fun. Fishing is excelent on the Selway, great place to camp too. Used to head out there every 4th of July. Never made it to Elk City, but apparantly there are some hot springs around there. According to the FS there are no Grizzlies in the Selway/Bitterroot wilderness, but most people doubt that. Just be bear aware.

Thanks erfworm..

Yeah, Grizz I don't want to share space with...read a lot about them but have not been in their territory for any visits..

thanks for the input on the Magruder. Like I said I'm heading out there after the 2007 winter snow melts (late July, no doubt). I'll post up again befor I go incase anyone wants to hook up..

JON

If you're going around end of June, beginning of July, keep your eye out for huckleberries. They're all over the Southwest facing slopes in that area and are oh so tasty.

Snow pack isn't too high so it should be in good shape. Idaho PBS did a special on it. I think you can find info on their website. It is fairly well documented just search.

saw that PBS special

I saw the PBS, Idaho, special on the Magruder Road. that's what got me interested in it. the web link I posted up above is for the Idaho Outdoor televison information.

good deal on the snow pack..However, i'd rather see it pile up and me not get out there till late August, then see these dry winters. Has not snowed in the Oregon Cascades for 4 weeks, Great snow pack..but need more..

Yes we are screwed for water this year. We had a lot of early snow and then it just stopped. It has been too cold and dry to snow.

Pray for snow, likes to burn back there!
