Found a decent deal on a 200 series, Grey on Grey, this week and pulled the trigger. Its an 08 with 144k on the odo. Found the truck in Houston and did a bit of homework. It's lived its life in Texas and appears to have only been to the mall...with kids in it as the rear cup holder is broken....found that out after the fact.
Im pretty regimented about changing the oil and rotating the tires every 5k and even though the oil appeared very clean I wanted to make sure it was the good stuff in there. I bought a new Toyota filter along with the filter tool and some full synthetic Valvoline. I use that or M1 depending on the price at Wally World and Valvoline was on sale for $23 for 5 quarts so....
I watched the video on youtube and it was clear this was going to be a bit different than changing the oil on the Hundy. Oil drain went as expected but I would like to slap the engineer that came up with that filter setup...along with the last guy that changed the oil! The housing was on so tight I had to use a impact wrench to get it off....I thought it was glued on. I put it all back together and yep, I cracked the filter housing, those cost $80 by the way...
Anyway, the oil is fresh now and we are on our way. Ill post up pics at some point but everyone knows what a stock grey on grey looks like.
Usual approach, sliders, lift, 17's and new tires by Julys trip to Ouray. After that I will consider a bumper, etc.
Cheers!
