Living,
Thanks for posting up that link, it's a good one.

I know I have several more that could be useful when I get a chance to dig around for them. In the meantime, anything else that people know about that gives manuals, data or historical info will spice this up for future reference.

Well, if you want links, there are two useful ones right on this very website:

Guys,
These are great links. I posted up this thread because I wanted to learn about these trailers. The general response and these links are great. The funny part is more than twenty years after my discharge from the Army here I am again, reading field manuals. Thanks.

X2. This thread is becoming a great reference for trailer noobers like me. Please keep the reference links coming.
Thanks,
John

I have a question someone here might know the answer to. Will the wheels from M100 work on the MBT/T-3? Mine came with what someone told me were 15" ford rims. I would rather have 16" rims I could mount 7.00 16" NDT tires on. I know the 6.00 16" are stock but the 7.00 are easier to find. Not looking to spent the money for combat rims. Not sure if there is a non-combat rims for the era? I know the military jeep from the same time will have interchangeable rims. Also know the M416 rim the hole in the center is too small.

Here are a few links of interest to the 1/4 ton trailer crowd.

A forum oriented more towards restoration, but I like to keep things looking fairly toward the issue side of style. I'm not a member, but the archive there is useful:

If you want to upgrade your lighting and retain that authentic look:
Trucklite Military LED Lamps - Truck Lite
TruckLite and Grote both have rear lamp and other lighting in modern LED flavors, but pricey if you just want lights to work;)

A link to the Southwest Trailer conversion hub to adapt the M101 CDN's from the mil pattern to the 6x5.5 Land Cruiser pattern:
http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=247&SEName=l0655lb3e
In case that link gets broken, it's for SWT# L0655LB3E.
10" hub/drum, 6 studs 5.5" bolt circle using L68149 inner and L44649 outer bearing. Contains inner bearing, outer bearing, seal, grease cap and lug nuts. (84 series Spindle)
Note that the 3500# capacity 84 series axle can be ordered as replacement for earlier pattern trailers. The brakes on the M101 CDN are Dexter pattern 10" drums.

M101 CDN usually don't need a new parking brake handle, as they can be freed up by juicing them repeatedly. Earlier trailers may have an in-op brake lever or it's missing entirely due to being previously deleted by a PO. Don't pay too much. Cable is extra, but probably something easy enough to scare up:

I saw swampman has a new prime mover, but his trailer lid pattern is popular and easily adaptable to the other 1/4 ton trailers:

OK, back to work for me.:crybaby:

The rims are the same pattern as WWII and post-war Jeeps... 5 x 5.5". with an approx. 4" hub (I think the correct measurement is 4.2"). So yes, M100 rims will fit the MBT/T3 series. In fact, the same rims were used on the post-war civilian T-3C trailer.

You can mount either the 6.00x16 or the 700x16 tires on these rims.

If you have 15" Ford rims they should have a script Ford in an oval stamped on them.

Hey, someone else thought about making a comparison between the different M#s a sticky:cool::

Now this is a different take on what to do with an old 1/4 ton trailer. Some guys have Adventure trailers and other guys have adventures with meat. Put the two together and it would be a hit at just about anyone's campsite:D:

Talking to someone to day I found that they had 15" wheels on some of the early jeeps. Is this true is there a chance my 15" wheels came stock on this trailer? 9/43 Willys MBT. Anybody have source for the non combat 16" wheels? I plan to use it behind a FJ25 with stock 16" wheels

I have no experience with early 15" Jeep rims. Sorry. You might try the g503 forum.
