I recently purchased one of those 16 gal water tanks on ebay for my M-416 and I am scoping out those Shurflo water pumps. I plan on mounting it underneath, in front of the axle. I was curious what type of faucets and accessieries everyone is using on there trailers. I have seen a few people purchase the same tanks. Just trying to get some ideas.

Great Question - I'm in the same boat, getting my head around appropriate fittings, hand vs electric pump, removability from trailer, etc. I'm looking forward to hearing from someone with the courage to start something before having all the answers. This must be why I never get anything done.;)

Well, I have a few ideas my self. I am going to mount it underneath the tub and build a custom frame to help protect it and provide a place to mount a 2.0 GPM Shurflo pump. I plan on running the piping to the edge of the tub and stub them with those quick connect fittings. I plan on getting a pressure hose with the quick connectors and maybe a portable stainless steel bar cart/sink I saw on ebay with quick connector as well.

Sounds like a sweet set up Boctor; the pressure fittings I think would give you a lot of flexibility for different accouterments. I'm looking at a simple water storage solution for week long back country camping. Sinks, showers, etc. would be cool, but mostly just need to be able to pump it out into a pan or bottle. I also want it removable for when I use the trailer for other things.

Just looking for ideas I guess...thanks for yours. -Scott

Can you post a link for the water tank you purchased?

For my trailer build (in progress) - I was looking into a 26 gallon tank (26 Gallon Utility Tank (A-SP0026-RT)), and I was thinking of mounting it in the trailer, tipped at an angle, and just making it gravity fed, with a little spigot on the outside of the trailer. This would be a very simple and cost effective solution, and with 26 Gallons, I'd think you'd get pretty decent pressure.

Hello...

I just bought a pump today at Harbor Freight...12 volt, 260 gph... it was like $30

I am planning on rigging it to a shower head and a 5 gallon paint bucket for hosing off after surfing...I'll let you know how it goes...I'm planning on attacking it this weekend and posting the results on the 60 forum...

I too have a Shurflo 2.8 gpm pump and was looking into a fawcett option until I found out their prices! Wow!! So, I went cheap with a simple garden fawcett on/off valve at the end of a short garden hose as my fawcett. Pic Cheesy but it works!

For hot water, I simply recirc the water back into the tank after it goes through a Coleman on demand hot water heater for about six minutes. This heats the water up for showering, washing dishes, etc.. My tank is 15 gallon also.

Cheers.

i have considered the coleman on demand water heater but was wondering iif anyone had thought of/found a different way to heat water using 12v and/or propane.

I found a 12v heating element, but would it heat the water before draining the battery? then you have ONLY hot or cold water, not both at once-not very important i guess.

propane would be much more efficient but i havent seen anything that really stands out yet. (other than the coleman)

I'm going to Joe Jost's today to have a  and ponder this.

answers like that are why i love forums..especially this one. thanks guys. that unit is perfect.

I have one of these shower units mounted to my expedition trailer. I have a 26 galllon tank mounted in the trailer and a shure flow 2.0gpm pump that works great.

Our local TLCA chapter, CottonLand Cruisers, bought 2 of those showers and built cheap 2x4 and tarp enclosures for out event in October. The showers worked great and were easy to set-up. If I were building an expedition trailer, it would definitely have one of these. Good luck.

Those of you who have the Eccotemp shower units. do you use the switch at the shower head to turn it on/off while you're showering? If so, is the water temp pretty consistent, as in no scalding on startup?

Thanks.

Here is another option:

rooftoptent accessories

Not the cheapest but works as both your shower and cooker---so less things to have to try and cram on the trailer.

Maybe if cost and water conservation is an issue.....as I'm sure it is with everyone staying out on the trail....I'm thinking a simple SS sprayer heated on the stove or by the fire. The only thing I think I would change would be a better all rubber 6' hose and a shower type spray head. Also include an in-line water shut off near the head while soaping up. They have a pressure relief valve built in for added safety.

Here's a link for the 2 gallon model for the guys...I'm still searching for the 200 galllon model for the gals.....:p

The switch turns the unit on and off but the water flow turns the heat on and off. Turn the switch on and the gas fires up when the water is turned on and shuts off when the water stops so it won't over heat the exchanger. I have found that if you use it in a short period of time the temp stays very consistent. I have not let it sit for a time and turned it on again. I use it to shower and turn the water off between lather and rinse. Once you get the temp and water pressure set you have a great hot shower. The shower head has three or four settings for flow so you have pretty good control of the water usage. Here is my set up.
