The "Araco" trailer belongs to Henry "Exlied" on the board.
More info on his trailer here https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=19396

My plan has always been to build a very similar "clone" setup to his trailer and 60 series combo.

So where are we on this? OR is this just an ols dead thread....

We are in the very beginning. I just started this thread yesterday and came up with the idea just 10 minutes before then.

First off, I'm waiting on a reply from someone who may know of a place in New York that has these trailers. This would make sense to pursue before considering the Canada option.

Next, if I can get a pm from everyone who is seriously interested in this. I will add the list to the first post in this thread. Just give me your current username as I think some people signed up as one name but are displaying another.

Update... Still chasing leads and trying to find more sources before I even make a call to Canada.

List of potential buyers is on the first post of this thread.

A guy in California has at least 5 trailers. His price is $750 each. I'm trying to get pictures.

Another person has 4 in California for $900 each. Plus some that are more expensive but they come with hard tops. Trying to get pictures of these as well.

Sorry I was gone. White Mountains. Had a blast. But I am back now.

I think these Canadian trailers are very nice looking trailers-- they are supposed to be new or nearly new. For the right price they could be the way to go. A week or so ago I ran across someone who is trying to put together a group buy on these trailers. I think they are trying to put together a group buy for a whole semi load of them (18 of them?). He said they were hoping to get them shipped for a total price of around 750 bucks each.

Not a bad deal for a new trailer in my opinion. In fact, that is probably a real good deal.

They had not worked out all the details-- in fact, one of the sticking points was where this semi would unload all the trailers. It was going to be in the west-- but not necessarily in Arizona. That point was still under negotation.

I think for that type of price it would be a great plan-- especially if we could get enough buyers to have them unload the trailers here in Arizona. Or at least real close.

I emailed him last week but he never replied. Wonder if they met their numbers or if the deal fell through.

I have some pictures sent to me from these folks in California. I'll post when I get home tonight.

Unloading should not be a big problem...1 hour, a crane, and $75

I think the real issue is the location of the unloading--- somewhere central to 18 buyers and with facilties to store 18 trailers until they could all be picked up by their respective purchasers.

Getting discouraged.

Here are some pics of the trailers located in Cali. Prices arent good for any of them $900-$1000.

This first picture is from one seller. The other pictures are from a seperate seller.

I believe these trailers are WWII vintage.

The next set is from another person who is trying to play me. Here is her latest email... "Any word on whether you want the trailers? They are otherwise going to have to be sold so I'm waiting to hear from you."

Wow, she is holding them just for me.

I still think that the Canadian ones seem to be the best deal. I like the fact that we know that they are new trailers and not WWII vintage. If there is anyway to find an affordable way to get them down here, I think that would be the best option.

I've looked at the trailers that Bob and Frank have in Cali. WWII vintage and IMO not worth the money for what we want to do to them. His trailers all have Data plates and history. I sure don't want to destroy restorable WWII trailers.

The second three are Canadian 101's that look to be in great condition. What are the prices on them?

If we can get 18 trailers sold (prepurchased) I can have them drop-shipped to my shop and get them unloaded and stored here. The isue then becomes getting them outa here as fast as possible. I have about 5 acres but wouldn't want to step on the owner's toes by storing them for too long. If we could get them all in and have them out w/in a month I think it wouldn't be a problem.

Jared,

Can you find out more from this guy? Like where they are getting their trailers and any other details.

I just sent him another email-- I will let you know.

I think they are getting their trailers straight from this website.

http://www.futurelogistics.ca/AftermarketSales.html

They say the trailers are 800 a piece, plus shipping. But they also offer discounts on bulk purchases, and that they can arrange shipping. This is what I think they were planning to do.

We could probably do the same thing--- if we could get enough buyers.

How much did the lady in California want for her Canadian trailers?

The California trailers were $900 and up.

I bet we could get 18 buyers but we would have to include members of my jeep club. If we want to head this direction we will need to take this topic to another place as it wouldnt be right to point them here.

I'll call the place in Canada tomorrow and see what I can find out.

If this moves in a direction that it looks like it might really happen, I know a couple people that would probably be interested also, but have held off on telling them until we knew something firmer.

Here is the latest from the guys putting together the group canadian trailer buy.

The downside is that Las Vegas appears to be the designated drop of point. The good news is that they seem to have a workable plan of attack.

Interested Canadian Trailer Buyers,

This is an update for those that expressed an interest in a group purchase of Canadian M101, 1/4 ton trailers. Good news! Along with the list of prospective buyers collected by our host broker in Canada, we now apparently have enough interested parties to satisfy a full trailer load for best possible pricing. Please return my email by 8/9/2004 (Monday) to confirm your interest and intention to follow through with a purchase. Following are some of the details that are beginning to take shape. Please contact me if you have any questions.

A delivery location agreeable to everyone is difficult because buyers are spread throughout the Southwest. Based on current interest and access to terminal access, Las Vegas, NV seems to be a good candidate for our shipping destination. Yes, I know it may be far for some, including myself (San Diego) but this seems to be a good compromise.
The broker, Future Logistics and Associates, has agreed to collect payment from all buyers directly and handle all transportation and importation into the US.
Your trailer will be assigned before being shipped. The broker will provide a description along with digital pictures for your approval.
Pickup and transportation of your trailer from the point of delivery is the responsibility of the buyer and should be taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Storage charges may be involved for trailers left for extended periods of time.
The broker can provide, at additional cost, some trailer modifications, electrical, painting, etc. See http://www.futurelogistics.ca/AftermarketSales.html for details. Please let me know if anyone is interested in this service.

Please let others interested in purchasing these trailers know of our group buy. Iindividual trailer costs may be lower for a second truckload.

Thanks for your time.
