I’m starting the research on adding factory front lockers to my 2023 lx600 luxury with AHC.

Has anyone already looked into this?

I’ll edit this later with a list of part numbers needed.

Any info is appreciated.

The gauge cluster on the 2022- 2024s are different than 2025. How would u know it's on?

Wondering why you would not trade up to a 700 OT? The resale on 600s is very strong.

I don’t see the value in paying sales tax again on a 120k vehicle plus paying 30k more to get a hybrid system and a front locker. I owe 87k on mine.

I’d rather have an electric front locker than air, perhaps there is an aftermarket e-locker?

Yeah, if you owe $87k and traded in for a 700, you would probably end with a (maybe) $5k equity and losing about $25k (guessing) you put down in your 600 about what 2 years ago? You would then have to put another (maybe) $25k down for the 700 to get back owning $90k. A massively terrible financial proposition IMO.

Yeah that would be a big hit.

Excited to see your build! Put those portals on and let us know how it goes!

Yes exactly those figures. I also prefer non hybrid.

Crawl Control can functionally get you out of trouble in most cases without lockers... Its still software vs mechanical but unless there a specific extreme offorading need, CC can get the job done.

True, but in my experience there's 1) Trying to get up an obstacle and 2) Being stuck. If you're dealing with #2, you want lockers. Think mud, snow, sand - CC isn't going to cut it in those situations.

I don't know about that. I have seen some pretty impressive videos in YT of CC digging 200s out of some nasty stuff. You reach the limit when tires are not appropriate, caked or overinflated, but then I do not think even lockers would help because it is just a matter of traction (or lack of) on all 4 wheels.

The CC may even be a little superior, even though a little bit neutered.

The OT lockers and LS in the Fsport are good at putting equal power across wheels.

Fsport ~25% ~25% to each rear tire and 50% per side in front in most situations (assuming no CC).

OT would put 25% to each tire when triple locked.

The % is power output.

Each set up has its advantages even the Luxury with open diffs.

Sorry but no. Lockers are superior to Crawl Control, full stop.

CC can imitate a locker, but with many limitations. CC doesn’t apply significant force to the wheel with traction, and particularly when larger tires and a weighed down rig are factored in, or if the grade is severe. It’s often insufficient to pull a rig up over an obstacle, and I know this from extensive wheeling in my own FJ Cruiser, 200 Series Cruiser and now LX OT.

I’ve seen the videos of vehicles buried in sand or gravel, and I’ve seen how CC gradually finds traction and extricates the vehicle. This is fine and good (slow clap )but those tests are on a mostly level surface and notably absent is a comparison test with a fully locked vehicle.

There’s a reason the most capable vehicle from the factory (Wrangler Rubicon) eschews traction aids and simply adds lockers front and rear, heavy duty solid axles and a sway bar disconnect. Because it’s the most effective and robust toolset for off-road.

There’s a reason people drool over triple locked 80 Series (and now LX OT).

There’s a reason every Toyota owner runs to aftermarket lockers.

Rubicon owners aren’t trying to figure out how to add CC to their Jeeps.

Sure it works great rock crawling etc. Hardcore off road stuff.

CC works great if it wants to send ALL available power to one wheel (50%).

LS works great if you want to put power down ~equally to the rear 2 tires.

I passed on the OT order, I am going to stick with my Fsport. I like the LS better for my uses.

Wrestling with the same issue. Just not worth the premium to upgrade to an LX700h from my '22 LX600. Would be cheaper to ship it to Diseent and use that $30-40k to build it out.

Dude, don't spend all that money on portals when you still owe $87k on it. Pay that sucker off!

This…. I’ll be done by Dec with my 23’. I like the 700 but not worth starting over. I personally don’t have a use for triple locked, I go on the beach, and some snow that’s it.

Yep. I'll buy a 700 if my vehicle is wrecked, or to replace my wife's built 2023 GX460 in 5-10 years.
