I don't trust toyota recommendation on the turbos to be honest. I trust the car care nut more. Will be doing 5k oil changes for both of our turbo hybrids. The tried and true v8s need less tlc so every 10k or 1 year intervals for those. Toyota only cares about getting you out of warranty period.

Then why buy Toyota?

Then why buy Toyota?
Maybe that question can be better answered by the car care nut. He obviously knows toyotas better than any of us. Do u watch his videos? Toyotas are still the best. There is no other option

I’ve watched a lot of his videos, and the guy is a good mechanic. He is objective about pros and cons on Toyota products. His sunroof video made me never want to use a sunroof….😂 But he also repeats himself endlessly and is very hard to watch/listen to.

If you trust Toyota to make the best product, that implies you trust their engineering and quality control. If you suddenly veer from that and say “but I know better on maintenance schedules than Toyota” I have to ask why.

Clearly, more frequent oil changes won’t hurt anything, but this is somewhat indicative of many Toyota owner mindsets I’ve observed in person and on Mud (maybe mine included), where Toyota reliability is a self-fulfilling loop. “I have a nice thing, I must protect it to make sure it is nice forever.”

The loop: You believe a Toyota will last forever, and you then do everything in your power (including more maintenance than Toyota even sugggests) to make it last forever and then it last forever.

Other enthusiast groups have a far more “send it” approach. Groups Im familiar with who mostly just send it: Raptor owners, Jeep owners, Porsche owners (Porsche dealers by the way will not even let you get an oil change prior to the 10k interval. They are insulted if you don’t trust the process.)

Wheel with some Jeep guys and you will see what I mean.

If we are being honest, you can over maintain any brand and make it more or less last forever, but if you believe in Toyota, you should believe in their designated maintenance schedule IMO.

Not at all. WS transmission fluid is junk. 0-20 motor oil is only shown as exclusive in the American owners manual. Transfer case fluid is probably too light too.

Extended oil change intervals are to reduce advertised ownership costs.

Transmission programming for increased fuel economy is about unbearable.

I could go on.

I will stick to 5k oil changes and always at the dealer! See video above. Sounds like I'm not the only one who will change oil more than recommended by toyota. But damn. I wonder if guy changed oil himself or went to jiffy lube or used dealer?

Or just do it yourself with the right oil for your climate (use the owners manual for GCC and Australia).

You posted a random video where an oil filter fell off, I’m not sure what this is supposed to show or how it supports the argument for more “aggressive maintenance.”

Looks like Canada 700h OT has a different way of folding the 2nd-row seat and also has buttons to fold the 2nd & 3rd row seat from the cargo area. Vid starts at 7:00

Mine is Earth with Black interior; 7 seater.

I wanted the 2 row variant, but the regional distributor stated Lexus wasn't going to build those until late 2025 or 2026. So instead I'm going to delete the third row (which is only four bolts) and I'll post up about my experience on it here. I haven't pinned down the part numbers yet for the 2 row cargo deck, but I'll worry about that once the truck has arrived. I would have liked the Stone Brown interior as well, but I'm okay with black.

I agree with @Specialeyes this will be a very low volume truck so I doubt there will be remotely the amount of fan fair as the GX. If I recall correctly, Lexus sold about 32,000 GX550s in 2024 and 6,000 LXs.
Mine is Earth with black interior---love it.
Unfortunately was unable to get a wild turkey to ride home in the back, but the truck held all my gear and was great in the woods!
