Look into Xpel Windshield Protection Film while you're at it.

Mine paid for itself when I took a huge rock to the glass in the mountains of Colorado. Just a little marred spot on the film, no glass damage!
Was there any issue with glares or clarity? I declined this because I was sure if the clarity will be affected.

For context: I'm hyper sensitive to "wave" and distortion of aftermarket glass.

I can see some very faint distortion, but the protection benefit has greatly outweighed that. No one else has noticed the distortion when I talk about it. Wife thinks I'm seeing things, :)

After I got a rock chip I quickly repaired last week i kinda wish I would have done this. Probably too late at 13k miles now..

The pitting I had on the GX glass after 5000miles made my mind up for me.

On that topic, I'm already over 3,000miles on the LX!

I’ve not followed windshield ppf in a few years but last I heard that they don’t last very long if you use your wipers. Is it better now?

Xpel's is better in that regard, but still I have noticed the tiniest bit of marring from the OEM blades. For the rock protection in CO, I'll accept it. I've heard ceramic coating and using silicone blades reduces the concern, but I haven't tried that yet.

Is Xpel nor hydro-phobic? I really like the idea and when I called around it's about $550 installed so it's not bad.

Not like their PPF is in my experience.

I've been topping mine with bead maker sealant for now.

For the 700h folks, are you guys doing an early oil change (<1k miles), theb every 5k after?

I changed at 800miles and swapped to 5W-30. Will change on about a 5k interval as usual.

Adding further,

As expected, there was some metallic debris in the oil from the break-in period, but it was significantly less than I found in my GX5 at the same mileage.

It is up to Landcruiser standard off-road. Never thought I could like something as much as my 80

I had it installed on new windshield. No issues with clarity. I got some microscopic hair trapped at one point but I have to really look for it. Get good installer. I guess I could complain and it get it redone but it's not that bothersome. Have not used my wipers a lot but there is a different glide to it if not enough water. Getting silicone wipers

LX570 guy here. Has anyone upgraded from an LX570 to the 700H. Does the 700H feel smaller or more claustrophobic inside? I sat in a 600 the other day and felt like it was a tighter fit but then I also only had a moment to sit in it. Really trying to make the 700H my next one though.

Also, with the 700H, any issues with the trunk space and dogs? I'm on my 2nd Mastiff now and I'm worried about the battery/3rd row space.

The interior is slightly smaller than my 200, but it's be fine for me.

Trunk space is fine for two German Shepherds with the thirdrow removed. With the third row in, the area is still okay for the dogs, but slight narrower than my 200 with an ARB drawer set in.

Nice! Thank you. That's good to hear. Look forward to hearing more about how you settle into the 700H.

Not me. I trust that Toyota engineers know better than me.

I assume they want to guard their brand image, especially in light of some very public failures recently with new products.

I assume they built my LX700h OT to a high standard and I plan to only have only scheduled maintenance performed.

The whole point is (IMO) you’re buying a vehicle that is theoretically built better than everything else.

If I’m proven wrong by my LX blowing up, everyone here will be the first to know!

I don't trust toyota recommendation on the turbos to be honest. I trust the car care nut more. Will be doing 5k oil changes for both of our turbo hybrids. The tried and true v8s need less tlc so every 10k or 1 year intervals for those. Toyota only cares about getting you out of warranty period.

The dealer complementary oil change on mine has it set for 5,000 miles on the little window sticker.

I don’t see the point of pushing it to 10,000 unless you plan to trade it in under warranty.
