23 lx f sport. Sirius xm used. Shifted to rear and i think my sons corolla sounds better wtf
EXACTLY. Except the Corolla probably sounds better. I can guess at their logic, probably based on cheap home theater surround system design and assumptions about sound localization ability at various frequencies. To be generous, maybe concerns about nulls and peaks localized in the cabin at the longer wavelengths.

But the results for the rear in such a long vehicle, at least for the GX, seem to be just terrible in the back. I'd hoped that at least in the LX (or at least the Luxury) they wouldn't have cheaped out, and have been concerned about rear passengers. On my LS460L that same test sounds great for in the rear, because there's a full set of speakers in both the front and the back. On the GX and from my quick test the LX, where that full sized speaker should go in the rear doors (bottom "speaker" grill) is just blanked off. When the service department sheepishly admitted to that in my GX, the only thing they could say was, "Sorry, bud."

Again, really hoping I'm wrong about this on the LX OT, because it's a deal-breaker for me on a supposed "flagship" Lexus.

Out of curiosity what audio source were you using?
Started off just doing lossless files through the USB, avoiding any Bluetooth compression. Know that any streaming or satellite will sound terrible regardless due to compression - not knocking them, it's just practical limitations on bandwidth. But this is more of a hardware issue, where they chose to provide full range only speakers for the front seats, so not really fixable with improving the source. I think it's just a matter where they focused only on the driver up front.

I'm really curious to hear from others testing their LX700h systems when they get them home, so please chime in once you get yours settled at home. I just haven't seen anyone talking about finally getting one home yet (and I walked away from my 3-row 700 OT so it never came home). Also curious whether there's a difference between the different 700s, and the OT is just a base model (missing a lot of the nice stuff from the Luxury). But the specs say they all get the same "25 speakers meticulously positioned throughout the cabin."

So going easy way of keeping all factory and swapping speakers in rear doors to full range would be efficient value move or useless given amp and all the rest stays the same?

dang, you guys are really dropping $100K+ on a new SUV? holy smokes...
Inflation is real and hurts.

2018 LC200 would be 109k today.

The 2005 LX470 would be 105,000 today.

Would be interested to learn more about this.

The 700 should have the same ML as the 600.

I hear this a lot, but I do not get this argument. Am I the only one who does not see the same standard applied to my salary? I mean, by this same token I should be earning $20k or $25k more. I am simply not. To me, this is just the automaker's mantra to justify these insane prices we are seeing now. Good for you if you can spring that kind of money, but I suspect most people struggle these days to buy a car equivalent to what they could buy 5 or 10 years ago.

That’s a conversation with your employer. I’ve been giving my team typically 4-7% year over year.

Maybe, but I have a feeling I am not alone on this.
Average salaries of average Americans generally increase by the average CPI. But depending on how you spend, large purchases using vast amounts of natural resources inflate by the biggest dollars but perhaps not the biggest percentages. As mentioned, thats up to you and your employer, and the industry, and level of management you may be. IF we are to assume everyone gets paid more, the COGS rise and inflation continues. Sure, there's an argument to needed profitability percentages but again, that is dependent on who you are working for. This is why many people recommend to start a business if you have the skills, and then you can make the bigger dollars and you make more as you grow your own business. I left a job last year to start my own business and was making a tremendous salary but had nowhere to grow. Now its up to me to make it happen and for input, the new business will be started with debt and equity as this is not something I can afford on my own. Take the leap if you can. I was making 12x inflation since my first job in the 90's and expect to be near 500x in the next few years. You too can do that, it just takes some time.

All of this also emphasizes the value of the older vehicles to people that buy them today.

This has been a question I've had about the GX, but don't have any hard facts about it yet, and am honestly pretty clueless when it comes to modern car audio. And everything is so integrated now it's hard to just gut things and start from scratch like in the old days. I'd honestly just hoped this wouldn't even be a problem on a "flagship" LX with its extra speakers, so hadn't gone any farther yet.

The largest question is whether there is already a high pass filter before the amp going to the rear speakers. They could do it that way to save money on watts going to the back, and as you said it would make it useless to add anything. In looking at threads about dissatisfaction with the ML in lower spec cars, I'd seen talk of adding better speakers with good results, which suggests there's hope. But they were talking about the same size as the original small mids in the back, which seemed limiting.

The next question is whether those empty bottom holes are actually blanked off as the dealer service told me for the GX, and empty and available for adding larger full-range speakers. I'd assumed they were for the stock speakers, and have a round pattern of holes suggesting a speaker should be there. But they could be unavailable, or used for porting to get more range from the existing ML (which seems unlikely, as there is no range back there). I put my ear against that lower speaker grille and listened on the LX700h, and heard nothing, just like the GX, so assuming it's empty.

I'm really curious to hear what people hear when their new LX700hs that are coming in, as this is still the only thread where I'm seeing people who actually have their hands on one, or will soon. I'd have assumed that if it were as bad as my quick LX700h test sounded on the LX600 someone would have said something already, especially with all the entertainment setup for the rear 2nd row seats on the Luxury and up.

Update; waiting on a truck. Likely to arrive this later this week. Of course I'm out of town till next week, but it'll allow me to have tint and some PPF done I suppose.

You guys are ballers. I will just keep driving my 200. In all seriousness, most people I speak have been getting 2% (if anything) in the past couple years. I do reasonably well and could easily spring a $1000 plus car payment in my budget, but it is such a bad financial decision that I chicken out every time I think of it.

Has anyone driven one yet? I am curious how the transmission shifts, big complaint on my 600 and understand its probably across the board.
