Hey guys,

Do you know what airbag options we have to assist in towing? I checked out the Airlift website and they do not have anything for the lx600.

It will be the ones that go inside the coil spring. Get the dimensions and do some research.

Maybe easier to get heavier coils and adjusting tire misc.

I wouldn’t go much over stock gawr or stay there.

Thanks, I do not plan on towing that much, just a couple of times a year. I would prefer to install airbags in the event that I tow a travel trailer.

Kinda good thread because I ordered one, but with AHC. This 300 section is kinda slow, I also have some 60 series and seems they have more following here.

No clue about these except a dealer has a $2500 deposit, my specs, and I won’t need it till late this year at the earliest. I own a construction company and do need to tow in a pinch, but I have a couple Ford Superduties. But sometimes its hard to swap vehicles out in the daytime. When I’ve had F150s and Tundras in my stable, which I pick up time to time, 8,000-10,000 towing is where I would expect them to work at if needed. Our conventional pull equipment trailer weighs 3,300 empty.

I assume you have the regular suspension. I would definitely try a weight distribution hitch first and adjust your tire pressures. Scale it as well.

Can you take a picture of your hitch labeling or what the owners manual says? There could be some nuances or caveats to using a WD hitch?

I also wouldn’t look past 6,000. 12.5% tongue is 750.

Even with WD you are still adding 750 and I understand these have under 1,500 payload rating. So you will really need to watch the tires, tire psi, and gawr ratings.

Agreed, thanks for your input as I do not tow often. I just plan on renting a travel trailer to see if I want to buy one.

I will get all that info today and will post it shortly.

Airbagman AU also makes an airbag kit for the 300 series cruiser, which could be an exact fit for non AHC LXs.

I recently installed Firestone 4614 Airbags in the rear coils of a 2023 Tundra, they are made for a 200 series but they fit the 2023 tundra.
Supposedly the chassis and suspension components in the 3rd gen Tundra are from the 300 series LC so the Firestones may also fit.

Thanks! I will take a look!

You are generally told (so I read never done both to know) not to use airbags and wd hitch.

You may want to try a wd hitch first with a lighter trailer. You can get sway control benefits as well.

Airbags or not you are going to be limited to the tongue weight shown on the factory hitch.

Thanks, I am still doing research. I am a towing noob and still learning :)

What numbers did you want from the manual again? I was reading through it last night.

What does the hitch rate for tongue weight with a weight distribution hitch? Any exceptions in the manual?

8,000/800 is pretty respectable. That is more than an F150 in reality.

The thing about bags is you usually see people using them for single rear wheel 3/4-1 tons that have cargo weight plus dead tongue weight that is sagging the springs but not getting it over hitch capacity, tire capacity and GAWR. I have never used them on any of my trucks including my f250s and duallys and certainly not on any half ton because the hitches are weak on them.

Airbags are pretty universal. Just measure the coils internal diameter and height at normal height to the top of the coil.

Likely uses the same bags as the 200-series.

I've had scaled 5460lbs on the rear axle of my LX570 with an 8k trailer. It's over GAWR there but she takes it.
