So I know the LC guys have problems with the faux wood grain wearing off on certain areas but with the LX where the trim is made of real wood veneers there seems to be a problem of it pealing back

The area right above the seat memory settings on both sides is lifted up.
The area on the right side of the dash trim above the glove box is separated and lifting from the right edge
The section around the "ash tray" in the center dash/console is pulled up around the ash tray door

There maybe more areas but I just haven't found them yet. It was a Texas car so maybe it was heat related that the glue let go? I have only found one thread on another forum about it and maybe one or two comments on Mud about it. Lx 570 Wood Trim Replaced 4 Times!
Cracked and peeling wood trim - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion

Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? Can it be glued back down? What sort of business would do that kind of work? Wood worker? Automotive restoration? Upholstery shop?

My vehicle is a 2011 LX570
Thanks for any advice!

Thanks! Great information there. I'll look for custom interior shops. Perhaps I'll find one near the airports in the ChicagoLand area.

I had the same problem and was able to glue it back down. The ash try panel and the passenger air vent panel just pull out after removing the surrounding trim. The memory seat panel can be unscrewed from behind after you remove the door panel. I used some 5 minute epoxy. Most difficult part is coming up with a clamp mechanism to evenly hold the curved sections down while the epoxy dries.

I'm having an issue by the seat memory as well as by the ashtray. Hasn't bothered me enough to glue it back down.

Let me know what you find, though!

My '08 LX570 trim around the ashtray is doing the same thing. Not enough glue at the vendor's bench...

Common issues. My 11 is the same, need to glue it down soon.

My 2010 has exact same areas pulling away. I tried some quick setting super glue on drivers door with no luck. Guess I’ll have to take all panels off to glue them back properly.

Any idea how to get that large panel above the glove box off?

What is the consensus on the best product to get them to stick back down? I’m thinking a viscous expo you may be best.

I notice the same issue with my driver side wood trim by the seat position buttons. I tried to press it down with the fingers and accidentally cracked it. Does anyone know how much would it cost to get this replaced? Is there any after market replacement for this piece?

Hi there, new member on the forum with new-to-me 2010 LX. Same issue on mine, liveable but curious what it would take to replace. Any further intel? Hope it’s alright resurrecting this. Thanks yall.

I just used gorilla super glue with a needle applicator. Squirt it behind the wood. Hold it down for 10 seconds and it's been solid since.
Sorry for the old thread resurrection.....how is the gorilla glue holding up? Just noticed my ashtray area is peeling up

EDIT: 3M 04747 Super-Fast Repair Adhesive is the "professional" way to go...but, hard to find (3M commercial only) and requires a separate applicator "gun" and mixing nozzle. All in around $100.

Has anyone tried JB Welds Plastic Weld (not the stuff tried on radiators)?

Thanks!

Just a bump in hopes someone has a suggestion! Might this also work?
