So I have read most of the valley plate threads and recently completed the work. Replaced the gasket, water pump, knock sensor wiring harness, etc. When researching the project, I saw a recommendation to replace the heat exchanger as these are prone to cracking. I thought I saw a crack forming around one of the bolt holes, so I went to Toyota, ordered a heat exchanger for a 2011 Land Cruiser and finished the work.

Take it for a test drive and realize it is dumping coolant once it's up to temp. Remove the intake to find a hose that was left disconnected. The hose should have been connected to the top of the heat condenser (valley plate). Turns out the OEM replacement part does not have this male hose assembly which is why I missed it in the first place. Part number I ordered was 16877-38020.

Question for someone that has access to a more detailed schematic than I do. Is there a difference in the LX570 heat exchanger and the LC200 heat exchanger? I assume this line is a heat return hose that needs to dump back into the valley plate. Any thoughts before I start over? Is there a different part number that I should have ordered?

What year? (helps if you put it in your sig, btw)

Just did a little digging, seems you got the part from a 3UR without the tow package. Our rigs come with the same tow package parts as standard equipment.

This is the relevant part from a 2012 3UR Tundra

This is from a 2013 3UR LC. LX is the same, at least for that year. Note that all US 200-series cruisers came with the oil cooler, which is part of the tow package.

@bloc Signature updated.

Thanks for digging. Looks like you are correct. Mine has the oil cooler as you pointed out. I feel pretty silly to make a mistake like that and not notice it. Looks like I will start over.

Don't make the mistake that I did when you tackle this yourself. Pull your own part numbers and don't rely on the parts counter. Lesson learned the hard way.

This was a Toyota parts guy?

@OregonLC Yes. Seems like he pulled part numbers for the same model year LC and I did not catch that the part numbers are off by 1 number based on whether or not you have the tow package, standard on the LX. 🤷‍♂️

Technically it's standard on the LC as well. I'd attempt to get them to pay for the replacement.
