so on the other side of this part is the seat and a head rest comes up; this i feel is a definetly a cost saving move

some one said that the rear bottom gate is thin so you can reach into the cargo area; thats silly.

the truck was solid; I did like it but this is 95k! to me this is an expensive vehicle. I just dont understand why it does not have the same polished fit and finish of the ls.

I have heard no child latches in the middle area above, so I guess a child seat goes behind the driver or passenger. Not a good safety move IMO.

here is a pic

Is this for 3rd row access ????ie: does it fold down and then toward the front opening some floor space???
---that would be cool to negate the need to fold a second row each and every time the 3rd row seats are used.....
OK so I wouldn't want to squeeze my 220lbs through there.... but a 8 year old that would have to wait for me/wife/2nd row occupant to flip the second seat to get out.....

nope the bottom is attached basically they turned the back seat into a 2 person only and a third if needed in emergency. not on a regular basis. I also agree with page master in regards to the power seat issue. It definetly looks like a last minute add on. Big deal the seat moves to be inovated they should have done the recline part also just a gimmick in my opinion

In agreement

I found the new 200 series will dazzle those who wish to be blinded by gimmicky features. Quality has been compromised on the "little things" that normally make good stuff great.

On another front, the new engine and transmission are superlative. However, the truck does not drive as nicely as the 100 series. It feels large (like the Sequoia). The 100 series feels and drives like a smaller vehicle. If Toyota wanted it to feel like a big old American truck, they succeeded. Instead of taking an extended test drive I found myself turning back to park it - did not enjoy driving it one bit.

Just wondering what "little things" they compromised with regards to quality, and ultimately in my thoughts - reliability. I find it is very gimmicky, but all just trickle down features from other cars in the Toyota line-up. As a result of being trickle down features from the last 5 yrs, quality and reliability all seem to be there? Were there things in specific that you felt were cheap?

Does it have a key that u can put in the door and open said door? What about ignition; key in slot and turn to start?

Yes on #1 - there is a sort of miniature version of a regular key that pops out of the smart key and fits in a slot in the driver's door.

No on #2. If the smart key battery is depleted, you're supposed to hold the smart key up against the start button, wait for it to beep, and then you can start the car. This sounds a bit wishful to me, so my solution will be to carry an extra CR1632 battery in the glove box.

All I have to say about the key...

I finally have a key that works!!! Haleluia (SP?)!!!

My '97 LX has only the valet key, and if I lose that, I'm f#@ked. Went to Lexus to get it replaced, and I was looking at hundreds of dollars. My '94 LC has a key, but it doesn't work, in any key slot. I rely on the aftermarket alarm, but now my battery is dead, so, I'm really f#%ked.

I was so happy to finally had a key to work, and one that I didn't have to pull out all the time.
