I went to go to work this morning, and pressed the unlock key and got nothing. I manually unlocked it and got in and tried to crank it. No click, no turnover. A buddy stopped by and offered to jump it. Only had the cables on there for about a minute or two since I was running late. Once the batteries were hooked up, there was a quiet hum from the driver side engine compartment nearer to the fire wall. Tried to crank it and got clicks but no turnover. Just drove it last night and haven’t had any problems previously. Any ideas? I’m going to try a new battery, but I suppose it’ll start up then I’ll run and, if there’s a slow drain, it’ll be dead again.

Recharge your old battery and put an ammeter in-line with the positive battery terminal to see what type of potential parasitic draw you might have. If you don't see one, check your belt tightness and verify alternator for output.

I’ve figured out the issue while finding another. I replaced the battery (it was from ‘21, so probably needed it) and made sure all dome lights and everything were off. It fired right up obviously, but I noticed the rear brake lights were on when it wasn’t running. That had to be what zapped the battery.

Battery and or battery cables.
Battery was old so I replaced it, but the culprit is either the brake pedal switch or the little plastic pad under the brake pedal. The brake lights remain on when the vehicle is off. I’ve ordered the part, so until it comes in, I’ve just been disconnecting the battery.

Didn't see brake light issue, stated in first post. So just stating, symptoms were obvious dead battery.

I wasn’t aware that it was the brake lights causing the battery drain until I replaced the battery. Luckily, it was due for a new battery anyways.

Any light or anything that uses electricity, draws from battery. Even a dome light or glove box light will.

We have a draw, just from security system. Even leaving the headlight (HL) in auto. Draws down battery. OM warns us, do not leave HL in auto, when prolonged parking. like at airport ect..

Battery must be kept full charge at all times. Or they get damaged (sulfate) and will not except a full charge. If not, driving at least once a week on HWY for more than 20 minutes. Keep battery on a trickle charger.
