Do we definitely have an LC where the amp and speakers have been replaced and there's no hiss?

Hmm, I just want somebody else to be the guinea pig before I rip out my Grom vline! I replaced all of my blown factory speakers a few years ago with budget Rockford Fosgate 4 ohm sets. I think the worst part of using an amp might be the wiring. Where is the factory amp located? Would it be feasible to replace it without running all new wires between amp and speakers?
Amazon product ASIN B07YVMJFB9 looks like a decent budget option that wouldn't blow my modest speakers.

The amp is under the passenger seat. Simple 4 bolts to remove the seat. You can reuse the factory speaker wires from that location to the speakers.

Okay so i pulled the trigger on an android 10.1" display. It seems to be working fine and has a decently pretty UI. All the functions seem to be working including the AC controls, power antenna, disc changer, steering wheel buttons, speakers, etc.. If anyone would like to know more, i can make a quick walkthrough video and post some pictures and details. Feeling really happy about the system, feels like the best suv just got better. Fingers crossed for upcoming days !
Would love to hear more and see the video.

Coolwalk 9.4. The climate icon seems to be sticking in the spare piece of right hand screen. Even Mrs willyroo now happy with the HVAC access and AA.

I fixed the hum by installing a new sound stream Picasso Nano 5.640D 5 channel amp. And running audiophile RCA's.
Sound is crystal clear and the 4ohm aftermarket SKAR speakers the previous owner installed sound great for those bass drops.

@SandSandwhich , what year/model is your rig? Thanks!

Andrew

That's awesome! Glad you got it fixed. What method did you use to install the new amp? You just pull out the old amp and run RCAs from teyes to new amp and reuse existing wires running from old amp to the speakers? You use the teyes amp wire for amp turn on?

Yes to everything. I also used the Metra harness from amazon that fits my amp. it was $40 but it matched the wires perfectly so I didn't have to run new wires to any of the speakers, and I can always revert to stock if I every wanted to (I wont)

So it sounds like one way to remove the hiss on LCs is to replace the amp with aftermarket? Any amp will do?

And if we know that worked, does that mean there's something we can do to the stock amp that might fix the hiss?

How about the volume knobs and steering wheel buttons, do those work as intended?

I have an aftermarket amp and speakers in the LX. Strong wheel controls work because they send the signal on canbus. Volume knob also works for mute, but not volume, but that part might be different in the LC.
It's the same as my LC. Steering wheel controls work, volume knob only mutes.

We just can't have it all, can we? :p
I do love the tactile controls right behind the shifter so it may be hard to give that up. Everything else sounds like a step up from my Grom VLINE.

Updated the firmware (Teyes OTA) to 21.04.2023 (err that's 21 April :) ), which included an update to Car Link v 2.2. Wired AA has gone pear-shaped.

If it connects, it works for between 15-20 minutes then stops, blank screen and the Car Link app appears to stop searching - no circling or active dots on the "connecting to device".

AA wireless seems to work sometimes, however the only way to get the Car Link app to restart is to restart the whole CC3 (swipe from top, reboot on top right).

Waiting to hear back from Dan about either a firmware rollback or a different (earlier?) version of Car Link

TL;DR? If your CC3 works fine - don't update to 21.04.2023 firmware. Normal YMMV warning :)
