Ok so I need to replace my alternator. I understand that I could rebuild the one that I have or just drop the money and get a replacement. While Im at it it Im going to replace the belts as well since they are pretty old too. While I am looking to go OEM, 80a, I understand that there is a 100a OEM as well.
Questions:
I am NOT running an 2nd battery YET and Im only running some basic peripherals at the moment, a Ham radio, upgraded head unit etc. I am planning on running a second battery though in the near future and running some wire to the rear for tools and refrigerator, etc.
1. Would it be beneficial to run a higher amp Alternator? In the current setup or with a second battery and more peripherals?
2. What is the 100a part number? Can't seem to find it. And does it require a new mounting bracket?
3. In the current setup would a 100a alternator fry anything or cause any risk?
Thanks Everyone!
