With the dropping prices of the 200 there are more and more people trying to snag one, like myself. The problem being, if you find one you like, it's probably several hundred miles away. Setting up a PPI can be a hassle and cost nearly $200+. Plus, if the LC/LX is at a dealer and they do the PPI, who knows what they'll try to hide. Also, many of us are enthusiast who know what to look for when it comes to these specific models.

So I propose a nationwide buddy system. If you are willing, you can help out prospective buyers but taking a look at a local 200 (or any car really). It'll save us cash (though I'm sure sending a few bucks for gas/time would be a nice gesture) and you'll get some unbiased eyes to look over the vehicle.

If this idea works, cool, if not it's all gravy. PPIs still get the job done.

I'm currently in Afghanistan but when I get to Utah I'll gladly drive (within reason) to take a look.

I have done this a few times in my past. Best way to do this if you find a car in another state, go to the club link and ask there or you can post here. Creating a nationwide buddy system thread here is impractical and difficult to maintain. Some times I am more than happy (and have) to check a vehicle, some time work has me so backed up I don't see the sub some days. Creating the thread creates the expectation that those willing are always available, but life happens

If you find a vehicle, better to post where the help you need here and in the club forums and those available at that time will pipe up

My opinion as a long time Mud member having bought and sold multiple Land Crusers, not as a moderator

BTW- Tony - thanks for your service

Used Cars, New Cars, Reviews, Photos and Opinions (CarGurus) is another site I used when evaluating the offered deal compared to others

Fair enough, I figured I'd give it a shot. Like I said, if it doesn't pan out it's all good.

Speaking of which Romer, if you're ever in the Springs area and there's a nice 200 I'm interested in :) I doubt it'll still be for sale when I get back though.

And thanks, not a bad gig but I'm definitely counting down my last 5 1/2 years.

You can always post here asking if anyone is available in the area you happen to find the rig in... I know I'd be happy to help if it came up, and I think others would be too in many cases...

Anyone around Chelsea Alabama?

I doubt anybody will want one from New England, but I'm up for being somebody's eyes if there's something they want looked at. I had to go all the way to Delaware to find mine.

What’s up all? I’m new. Considering the purchase of single owner 11. With 94k. It has been in Wyoming it’s whole life. Purchase price is 35. Any buying advice and or what to look for at 90k would be much appreciated.

If new to the 200 LC, you might find some help in the forum FAQs. There’s a section on Thinking of Buying near the top.

Thanks sandroad. I saw that but didn’t see a link. There is so much helpful insight on this forum it is incredible.

Looking for advice on what to inspect at 94k miles

1. Carfax is my number 1, of course.
2. Toyota Owners website - search for the VIN, add it to your account and then check all service records - at the detail level.
3. KDSS - A big common place that is examined is the KDSS valves for rust. If they are rusted you may have difficulty or be unable to adjust your suspension after a lift. Search and you will find all kinds of pics and information about where to look under the drivers side frame rail.
4. 4WD fluids should have been addressed, are there records?

Have fun!
