Anyone have a suggestion on how I can get my 99 LX to respond better to my key remote? I have the factory transmitter key, but even after replacing the battery in it, I have to be REALLY close to the truck to get it to respond to the lock/unlock remote functions. While I think my wife's GX will respond to her keys from a mile away, I have to practically be touching my car with mine in order to get a response (strangely, cold weather seems to make it worse)

Any thoughts?

Could be,
1) Battery - as already suggested, try another
2) Transmitter - easiest way to find out is to try another
3) Antenna

I do not have an FSM, so I can only postulate for the third. The antenna for the unit that receives the transmitter signals could have moved to a nonoptimal position, or worse, come in contact with a grounded piece of metal. This would certainly cause a really small range, to no range scenario.

In the meantime, you can try putting the transmitter up to your chin and using your body as an antenna. It works for me. :)

there was indeed a post a while back describing how one could do some contionist moves and increase the range...

Don't know about the units for the 100s, but on the 80s remote units...if you press the end of the remote to your chin and press the button, you extend the range by a HUGE amount.

I was not a believer until I tried it myself. I don't know how or if it would work with the 100 series keys/remotes.

It has to do with the steel plates implanted in our heads by the government. Only a select few had this done- coincidentally, it also interferes with the cerebrum, causing a reaction which makes us Cruiser addicts.

Mine is the same way.
I replaced the bat. -- no help.
replaced the remote -- no help.

Odd thing is if I arm it, I can disarm, arm, disarm... as I walk awy from it for a good 40 ft.

Then when I approach the vehicle I can't get a response until I'm standing at the damn door.
